In another last minute Christmas Eve offer, BestBuy is offering the 32GB iPhone 4 in a Buy One, Get One Free Offer.

Apple doesn't officially offer the 32GB iPhone 4 anymore. After the introduction of the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 4 is being officially sold now as an 8GB model only, but stock of the 32GB models must remain. The 32GB iPhone 4 costs $199 plus 2 year contract. If you buy two from Best Buy today (in store only), you get the 2nd one free. Both need to sign up for two year contracts, but it's still a nice savings -- if you're in the market for two new iPhone 4 devices.

Hmm. I just bought an iPhone 4 32gb second hand. Oh well I don't suppose this offer is available in the UK. And I really don't want a contract either.

Hopefully this will stop the fanboys who claim Android is ahead because theyre free.

Not exactly! Plus this is an older model.

BestBuy and Woot deals (like the free 3Gs under AT&T contract) strongly indicate Apple is not leaving any money on the table anymore. They're going to be a lot more aggressive about the penny pinchers than in the past. This is going to be one heck of an earnings report next month.

Seriously? A Christmas Eve fire sale is supposed to compare to year-round BOGO? Okay then.

The subject line for this email was very misleading, it simply said, "TODAY ONLY: Free Apple iPhone 4 with 2-year activation" so I sent it to a few of my clamshell and/or droid friends without realizing it was BOGO, and not just completely free with the contract ...

Given that BestBuy UK went bust and are closing all shops in January, no - not available here ;)

Relax folks, this is a Best Buy ad... they retain the right to cancel your oder before delivery. In the meantime you get a good feeling about saving money.

Only 360 shopping-minutes left for all you last-minute shoppers.

Not quite true, they haven't gone bust. Carphone Warehouse are closing the shops down because they were not profitable.

No need to be pedantic. The fact is that Best Buy UK will no longer exist. They spent over £100 million setting the business up only to find they dont make any profit. The choices were stay open and have both Best Buy (US) and Carphone Warehouse having to fund a failed business, or shut up shop and move on.

To be £35 mil in debt is not a good thing...

The only remaining entity will be 'Geek Squad' which is offered in most, if not all Carphone Warehouse stores. Other than that BestBuy will no longer exist in the UK (not even as an online-only shop).

Nice try but this is in store with contract. So there's no ordering it.

It's a ploy to get rid of stock of the old models, nothing more or less. Probably aren't that many out there anyway so it won't be costing them that much. And while you are in the store . . .

Best Buy Last Minute Christmas Deal - Buy 1 iPhone, Get 2nd one Free.

I saw the deal on the 8'oclock news on KCAL 9. Had I known about it, I would have upgraded my second line or I would have purchased one at full price to get the second one free.

Did anyone get that deal? What were the stipulations? It was just too good to be true. Today, the 24th, was the only day Best Buy offered this deal.

$199 is just the subsidised price, right? So it is not really a 1-for1 freebie, they can still recoup part of the costs of the 2nd iphone through the (usually inflated) monthly phone/data plans, right?

Apple does not typically run sales, except for the typical Black Friday discounts. Whereas other brands can be pretty aggressive with their discounting. So many analysts see Apple losing the business of people who cannot afford a lot of money upfront. The free 3Gs (with contract) from AT&T changed that. And now we see Apple selling other items at a discount. They are aggressively courting the bargain-seekers. They have owned the high end (certainly if you look solely at profit) and are now wooing the lower end.
