It was open box but it was certified with no scratches or anything and was priced at $1,219.99![/QUOTE]

you got taken. open box should have been 10% off...$1170. or $130 off.

OP didn't get taken. he paid what he thought was a fair price for it.

Most people still don't have their rMB's and are paying $1299+tax or $1599+up for a higher config.

I don't think he got taken. BUT.. BB policy on "open box" is 10% off, that is just their written rule. But hell if i were looking for one as they are currently tough to find. I would have been fine with the price he paid. Are you guys accounting for the sales tax as well for his state?

In my state it would be $1299.99- 10%= 1169.99+ 6% sales tax = roughly $1240

ALSO, keep in mind sometimes their open box stuff online is priced a tad higher, maybe one of those "certified" ones via geek squad. Whatever the hell that means lol. I would think it should be certified and looked over to begin with, without paying more.

But again if he's happy, he's happy right? They aren't quite available right off the shelf at the moment. So in fairness i guess we can't criticize the 10% so much?

you can’t use edu on an open box

I know open boxes are listed on the "not valid for" section of the coupon - but I think it may be at the managers discretion.

I bought a 15" on open box and used both a movers and .edu discount.

The computer wouldn't let him use it, so he did a price adjustment and gave me the difference.

So I would try it anyway and see what happens..

Um - no?

There's no flat price for open boxed items. There are different tiers of quality - ranging from pretty much brand new with no defects (and passing their geek squad assessment) to having dents or missing parts.

The prices are accordingly to that.

OP got a good deal for a new, very much in demand item.

. It's pretty unusual for a customer to return a perfectly good Mac Laptop of any model.

People do it all the time, especially at Best Buy.
I just bought a 2014 Macbook Air 13" from cowboom.com (website owned by Best Buy where they sell returns, refurbs, and used)
I looked up the sale date and it says January 27, 2015. Also it had only 5 battery cycles which leads me to believe it was a return. It looks practically new except it doesn't have the factory packaging.

It only cost me $696 after shipping and taxes so I was happy with the $500 savings :D

You are acting like that is chump change anyway lol. I used to talk like $250 was nothing... When i was 21 hitting the city on the weekend with my friends. Now $250 hardly covers my monthly electric bill. ;) $250 saved, is $250 saved. But i think he saved even more :D.

ahh sorry about that was assuming apples prices were around best buys seen it retail at $829 in y local best buy

You have a point not saying it wasn’t a great deal money saved is always good

Did you try the movers discount? Although now some are saying that it can't be used with open box so I really don't know anymore.

Edu discount definitely can't be used on open box MBs since they're considered "Marketplace" items in BB systems.

Someone recently posted on here that they got an open item discount of $298. Not my pic, but I'm reposting so you know that some Bestbuys do give a higher discount.
