I wonder that too. I went to the store today and she told me they have the phones in but DO NOT come into I receive the pick up email. She said I should get the email in the morning as the have phones set aside for preorder.

I’m just praying this goes smoothly and store isn’t packed. Most of the phones coming in are for preorder most likely.
Same sitting in Pre-order...... Assuming we will get an email tomorrow morning early afternoon saying ready for pickup.
I've never done an iPhone preorder, but my local store is on it when it comes to picking items for store pickup. I've ordered after hours the night before and ALWAYS get an email before opening that it's ready for pickup. Now, granted, that's not an iPhone so I have no idea if it's different, but I assume it's the same.
I ordered through Best Buy for delivery. I got a notification from UPS and BB that it has been shipped and will arrive tomorrow (Friday) at my house.
Give it time ...it will change as they scan the phones in
Canceled my order. They told me it would be 3-7 day shipping I’ll try my luck in a Verizon store
Got on the Verizon site at midnight and ordered a 12 pro for curbside pickup tomorrow morning.
Mine still says preordered and 10/23. Getting one in store depends on your location. Searched for me and they have one phone 41 miles from me.
You have to go through the checkout process and it gives you option for in store pickup if they have it. I did mine on Verizon app. I can’t trust Best Buy so I canceled order last night.
Can’t go through checkout since I don’t have the option to upgrade now. Must be that cancelled order
