Why not buy? Its a lot cheaper than buying this time last year and not everyone has to have the latest device. The perception is you need to upgrade yearly... that's old thinking, you don't have to that anymore. You can easily wait a year, two or even 3 at this rate.

Well your "old thinking" is your own argument.

Did I mention price, yearly upgrades, or everyone needing the latest? No, no, and no.

But good job taking down that strawman.

I've always upgraded my iPhone every year up until I bought my 6 plus on launch day. Still own it and may even entertain the idea of buying a 7 plus if I can get one at 300 bucks off. I don't need the newest iPhone in my life.

Wonder if Best Buy will credit me back for a computer that I just bought...

But life is too short to NOT upgrade if you have the means to do it.

not to mention, most likely you won't be able to easily get a new iPhone until middle of next year anyway, which starts the annoying "should I wait to upgrade" cycle all over again.

Do we know what the specific deals will be? I see nothing that's $500 off... not even close. All I see is some MacBook Pros that are $100 off.

If life is too short, why would you spend some of it on yearly upgrades? Oh right, the illusion of "cool" and "happy".. impressive advice.

Hardly an illusion. But however you feel. :) I use my phone every day for a LONG time.

It all comes down to how much you care.

Well, it is Thursday and the sale hasn't started yet, so....

That said, I hope they offer more than the $100 off on the MBP 2017 and iMac 2017. I've been waiting for a deal (+ student coupon) to upgrade.

Exactly. I'm still sporting my iPhone 5S and will probaby upgrade to iPhone 8 only because of the camera. iPhone 7s perfect size but probably not dual camera, 7s+ too big, so iPhone 8 I guess. Not terribly thrilled at the extra cost. If it's 1k, I'll make due with the 7s.

Oh and my 2012 MBP just won't die even after my kid dropped it down the stairs. Not in a rush with the current MBP offerings.
