Just left my local Best Buy. I asked their phone person what the deal was with iPhone 4 availability for launch day for people who pre-ordered. She first said that as long as you pre-ordered during the first 36 hours until Apple said no more pre-orders you should be fine. I asked if it mattered that I was the second person in line on pre-order day and she said they kept the pre-order forms in order and they will fill them in that order. She also said that all the phones they receive will be first used to fill the pre-orders. I got the impression that they will not have enough to fill all pre-orders and probably none for people who didn't pre-order.

THe rep at my BB said said if they didn't have white for me at #32 I would be covered with a black. I think I'll go for that as my 3G pooped the bed.

The Best Buy I pre-ordered from told me that their pre-order totals were right around 20.

The Mobile Manager also told me that they were NOT going to be doing appointments because they were going to have an extra associate to help. He figured that each sale wouldn't take long considering the majority of people are already AT&T customers.

It's my assumption that if Best Buy isn't going to get any we will know before launch day. Then we can re-route accordingly. Im glad my AT&T is right across the street and Ill be hitting them up before I go to BB, considering the 3 hour difference in the doors opening.

good feedback, but still take it with a grain of salt. Obviously no one at BB REALLY knows what is going on and I would guess most of them are just making assumptions and giving people all sorts of conflicting information.

Exact information I received from the Mobile Manager at the store here. He said he didn't foresee a long line here at our store but that isn't going to stop me from getting there before the sun thinks of rising. First would be cool. I've never gotten any product on launch day so I am stoked about the whole thing

True that. I'm just really hoping I get mine on the 24th.

Even if each store was to receive 45 phones each. There are some things you need to consider.....

1 - Knowing Best Buy, they were taking reservations for the current stock of phones they would get. I don't think they are going to have 1 batch of phones for people that made a reservation and another batch of phones for walk-ins. ( this is usually an apple store deal )

2 - Of the first 45 people on the list, what are the chances of each person taking just 1 phone? When I was in line for the iPad 3G, everyone in line around me was buying the maximum 2 iPads ( whether it was to sell on eBay or for a friend or relative ).

So, with you being #70 on the list, I would say that your chances are very low when it comes to getting the phone on the 24th, unless that eBay you reserved at is getting over 100 phones on that day.

I believe you were only allowed to reserve one phone per person at Best Buy. At least thats what I was told when I tried to order one for my mom at the same time as mine...

Anyone pre-ordered @ best buy. I am @ #70 in waiting to close by BB. they are not sure how many they will be getting. it will be so sad if i will not get on 24th.

You will not get on launch day. No matter how big your store is... There is no way you will get it on launch day. Not even #7 is guaranteed to get it. I just got off the phone with bestbuy and they told me they were expecting 4-6 iphones on launch day. This store has apple mini store, so you can already see how crazy this is going to be.

If you look at bestbuy pre-order form, it says limit 5 per customer. If you ordered it on launch day, then BB should have let you do this. Some people even ordered 2-3 iphones.

Hmm, I got phoned on Friday by my Best Buy. I was the 7th to pre-order a Black 32gb iPhone, but apparently didn't make the cut. I was told that they were going to receive under half the stock they had ordered so although they did not accept more pre-orders than they could provide phones for, they now had a shortage of phones. I was also told they'd get another batch in around July 1st and I would receive 15% off their (overpriced, no doubt) accessories should I choose to buy any.

According to BB launch playbook they are reopening reorders until 11am on 24th. They will be behind all previous but in front of employees.

If you really want to experience a launch day event, then go to an Apple store. They play music while the staff cheer and clap as you enter the store. Really makes you feel important ( of course you have to be one of the first 10 people in the store ).

As for Best Buy, I don't think you are going to get anything there except a few funny looks.

LOL. I used to have blonde dreads, so funny looks are cool with me. I would LOVE to go to an Apple store, but the closest one is 2 hours away at The Mall of America. The 2 hours is nothing, but having it be a mall, let alone the Mall of America, notta chance.
