Best Buy looking good for preorder while everyone else fights it out at Apple.

Good news, but how about if I'm switching from Verizon, can bestbuy port my # and do all the switching to AT&T??
When you activate your iPhone via iTunes, AT&T will basically take over your existing phone number. Verizon will see that it's been taken to a different network and will end your contract.
I just emailed all the local store managers in my area. I will post their responses :)
Where did you find their email addresses? I'd like to do the same.

I have a bunch of RewardZone certificates (over $250) that I'd love to use towards a black iPhone 4 32GB. Anyone know how the pre-ordering will work for Best Buy (online, in store)? And if these certs can be used towards them?

Ok I have a family plan of 4, and only my brother and I are switching, my parents are staying, so only our 2 lines will be cancelled right? my parents will still be on Verizon right? just wanted to make sure, thanks

I'm not 100% positive about the family plans, so you should double check with someone else. I switched from Sprint back in 2007 and did the iTunes activation, but mine is a personal account. I would assume it's about the same though.

Yeah I've been asking everyone, but I keep getting different answers, some say that I have to be at an AT&T store to do the # porting and I cant do it in iTunes, some say that it's done with iTunes....anyways thanks for your help.

You might just want to call Verizon and/or AT&T and ask. I confirmed it with Sprint before making the purchase and setting it all up. They were quite helpful and even tried bribing me with all sorts of discounts to keep me as a customer... haha

Lol I think I'm gonna do that, thanks again.

Yeah, I think this year is different from years past, but thanks though. Didn't get a straight answer from BBs reps when I called.

It could be different, I don't know either, however, last year they required a $50 deposit for each phone. They knew how many they were getting and told you if you made the cut when you were pre-ordering.

When I showed up at my Best Buy last year to pick up my phone (before the doors were open of course) I had to come back three hours later because the FedEx driver had not been there yet.

Once I did go back, the process was very smooth.

Hope it works the same this year.

Best Buy Mobile is their instore phone area.

It's actually a completely separate chain of stores that are usually in malls, rather than standalone units. They specialize in cell phones, MP3 players, notebooks, that sort of thing. If you ever saw a Circuit City Express store, it's kind of like that.

Gotcha, my bad. All of the stores in CA that I've been to have the Best Buy mobile within the store itself.

Sorting through all of this information is giving me a headache. :)

At the moment I think I'm going to pre-order at Best Buy. I refuse to be held hostage by FedEx.

On another note: I stopped by Best Buy on my lunch break. They had no clue what was going on. Hadn't heard anything. That inspires confidence!

I was thinking the same thing but based on the a post above BB does not reiceve the phones until launch day either so might be eaiser just to ship it to the office. I think if you ship it to a business address you get it eairler in the day.

from Best Buy Store Manager:

We haven't received any clear direction regarding the open time for tomorrow and the 24th as of yet.

I would be reluctant to order from Best Buy only because you'll be reliant on an on-time shipment of phones to their stores... I have been in there a time or two when they said "the shipment was delayed but should be here soon". I know that can happen with any vendor though.

No boss,
It depends on how many phones we have in stock. ie. if I receive 50 units, and you are 65th person on the pre order list, you will not get it on the 24th...hope that make sense.

No, I do not know the exact initial shipment as of yet.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if I pre-order from you tomorrow that it is 100% confirmed that I will be able to pick up my iPhone June 24th, when the store opens?
