Best Buy has become the first retailer to offer solid discounts on Apple's just-announced M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max MacBook Pros. Only My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total members can get these $100 discounts on the new computers. In total, this includes the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro, 14-inch M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pro, and 16-inch M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pro.

I recommend you wait until January, Amazon is likely gonna have some great deals on these new MacBooks. If you can even wait up to June, it would work out in your favor.
And the deals will even be better on Black Friday 2024 … ;)
One should never buy a newly released computer as a new, shinier and faster one surely will come out, sooner or later

I have BB total tech so I get free AppleCare and 5% back but I would instead wait for a B&H M2 Max deal. I have their card so no tax and they had deal for almost fully loaded MacBook Pro M1 Max for $2,300 with $100 AppleCare.

Wait to see testing of how M3 compares to M2. Another issue is M2 Max 14 inch has some thermal issues.

I'm starting to think the move is buying last gen during woot flash sales. M1 may be crap now thanks to M3, but M1 is still wonderful and excessive for me. Also: Wifi-7 please.
This is exactly what I did!

I got a base M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM for $1500 ($1611 post-tax). Brand new off of Woot. Wish there was a way to avoid that tax...

M1 Pro is fine even for me as a software engineer. I would like the gaming stuff but there's basically zero support for macbooks anyways..

Plus if I want to upgrade, I can just sell this and use that money to upgrade to an M5, M7, or whatever. The M1 can do almost anything the M3 can...just a little slower.

Man I’m in such a bind. I’ve got an ailing 2015 MBP with a puffed up battery barely kicking and not sure about pulling the trigger yet considering a potential MBP redesign next year. I mostly just use it for running a desktop hifi setup. I’d really like to invest in a MBP again for the long term but am inclined to wait. In the meantime, maybe just something a bit less broken to run my audio rig?

I must say, and tell me if I'm being too optimistic here, but I feel like we're headed in a good direction price-wise with deals like this. Having sales safeguarded behind memberships is a good way to promote engagement (dare I say trust?) between buyer and seller, and cut down on opportunistic eBay resellers sapping store stock. Having a paywall to the deals could enable Best Buy and other retailers to give us deeper discounts over time, and possibly show the beleaguered concert ticket industry a way forward from the dynamic pricing and fee fatigue its been saddled with, trying to keep revenues where they need to be. With Best Buy now, I feel like I'm actually in a mutually beneficial and developing relationship with that store. I would love to be able to say that about more of the corporations that are such an important part of my life.

what kind of sycophantic obsession with companies is this

if you want cheaper prices, it's simple:

1. keep your old device
2. wait until prices for the laptop you want go down

I kept my 2016 macbook pro for 6 years until it died, got an m1 pro. i saved $955 this way. the m2 prices are going to go down real soon, m1 will be even cheaper

If the battery is the only issue, take a crack at replacing it yourself. I crashed into the “buy new” dilimma with the 15” MBair launch because RAM & SSD are- IMO- simply priced to high from Apple.

So I explored better deals for MBpro… which eventually led to a radical idea: $55 battery from Amazon and following a DIY process to replace the old one. YouTube will likely have many instructional videos to do the same with your exact MB.

Now my similarly old MBpro is like new again… prob good until M5 in about 2025-26. Maybe Apple RAM & SSD will be better priced by then. Else, PC may be my next laptop.

I'm tired of membership deals. They're just another way to suck revenue out of customers unless the pricing, across all product lines, is discounted, IMHO. Warehouse clubs do that and at least offer savings rates than just special discounts.

$100 isn't much and after member ship it's $50. Most people would be better off buying it at a store like B&H and with their card getting the tax rebated.

In US the price difference between M3 and M3 pro 14” base versions is $900. In Sweden it is only $540. But the base M3 cost as much as base M1 Pro was with 16GB/512GB. It looks like Apple believe that most people will add up around $225 to buy a base MBP14 than purchasing a 15” M2 MBA with 8GB/512GB.

Apple’s pricing model has become worse than ever. Why can’t they just keep it simple?

Thanks, you’ve inspired me! The screen also has moderate wear, but for my exact use case it’s totally fine. Just ordered a battery. I’d taken it into Apple for a replacement last year but they quoted me $200 and a long delay due to covid staffing issues. Just felt like too much hassle so I left and was hoping for outlook into a more significant MBP redesign by now.

Get watching the videos so you grasp the process well. Take your time. Carefully document the steps so you can work them backwards when you put it back together. Step by step photos can be a help here. I hope it works out as well for you.

We'll probably see them in Apple's Refurb store section by Feb. $200 off Apple's list price for the plain M3 14" MBP?

Come on all you YouTube reviewers. Buy them up and then return them. 👍

But even at $1,400 for base M3 14" MBP, you'd be better off buying an Apple certified refurb M2 Pro 14" MBP for the same price or less. Apple has their certified refurb M2 Pro 14" MBP 16/512 at $1,599 now. If history continues, I expect Woot and Micro Center to beat that price by $200.

In the U.S., the base price (excluding sales tax) of a 14" MBP M3 is $1,599. The base price (excluding sales tax) of a 14" MBP M3 Pro is $1,999. That's only a $400 difference, not a $900 difference.

In Sweden, the base price (excluding VAT) of a 14" MBP M3 is 19,121 kr or around $1,711 USD. The base price (excluding VAT) of a 14” MBP M3 Pro is 23,921 kr or around $2,141 USD. A difference of $430 USD.

Wait for another 18 months for the door-buster deals.
