Seriously Apple the "New iPad" needs a better name!!!!

"New iPad" is not the name for the new iPad. "new" is an adjective, the device's name is simply "iPad."

When they need to differentiate from other generations, Apple uses 3rd generation (see accessory compatibility on store.apple.com)

I have two Speck SmartShells and they do "fit" onto the new iPad but they left scuff marks on the back because they're a little too snug and bow out slightly in the back causing the case to flex and rub. I love the cases but I'm not using a case that's doing the exact opposite of what it's supposed to do. Just going to be careful until their new ones come out.

Best buy makes a ton of money on the Zagg's. My brother worked at best buy and with his discount which was just above cost he used to get me Zagg's at $8, down from $30. The cheaper screen protectors are obviously not netting them as much....

Power Support Crystal Film Protectors for the iPad 2 fit the iPad 3...

Trust me...I know...I just had one installed last Friday...PERFECT fit.

How does your protector look on the screen? I had a different one installed on mine last friday and it makes the retina screen look like the iPad 2 screen. I'm in the market for a new one.

Our local Best Buy also told me a sensor position changed so the screen protectors for the iPad2 would not work on the new iPad.

What brand/type did you get that messed up the screen? Crystal or Matte?

I put SGP Steinheill Ultra Crystal on and the screen is fine, retained all the retina goodness, perfectly sharp.

They're just trying to sell you stuff. The glass is exactly the same. I would go as far to say an iPad 1 screen protector would work fine if it doesn't hang off the edges of the glass. It's bloody clear. I would hesitate with matted screen protectors since it will diffuse the resolution of the display unless you get one designed for a retina display. Even then, it will degrade your "resolutionary" experience.

The Crystal Film looks like having no protector at all...It does not diminish the screen clarity at all.

The brand was Clear Protector. It was supposedly crystal but once it was on it looked terrible. Here is the link to their page:http://www.clearprotector.com/

Thanks. Installation video shows it's one of the wet-apply style like Zagg Invisible Shield.

Those are AWFUL on a screen. The material is great for the case on the back, it's tough and durable, but optically it sucks and makes the display horrible to look at.

That style gives screen protectors a bad name. If that's all I'd ever seen/experienced, perhaps I too might use hyperbolic references to cling wrap. They're that bad.

The static cling style like SGP Steinheill or PowerSupport (or similar) are virtually indistinguishable from the naked screen. The reason you don't notice them on phones and ipads around you is because you can't see them unless you're close enough to see where the edge is around the home button or screen edges. :D

Thank you for your help, I just ordered an SGP Crystal protector. Thanks again!
