Just check the 9to5Toys page, they post sites that have sales on iPad Pros all the time.

I think it's a little different with the S7. They do the BOGO sales to increase initial demand for the product whereas the iPad Pro's frequent minimum $100 off sales seem to indicate the product was priced too high to begin with.

Apple has to realize that it has lost some of its magic. It can't just overcharge for a product without corresponding value to the consumer.

You're the reason iPad sales are down.:D
I know, been meaning to upgrade. Even running only iOS 7 with all memory mostly available, the iPad 2 slow crawls through everything. Just using it these days for web, Netflix and live television streaming. I will upgrade one day...

Couldn't agree more. It's time they adopt the strategy of lowering a product's price when it's more than one year old. Yes, I'm looking at you, Mac Pro, Mac mini, and Thunderbolt display.

No way should a 2013 Mac Pro cost the same in 2016 as it did in 2013, for example.

On sale so much? Where?

By that token the Galaxy S7 must not be selling well either as I'm always seeing BOGO commercials on TV from the carriers.

At best buy and staples at least the ipad pro is on sale pretty much everyday for weeks.

I got when it was on sale at best buy for $100 off. Got price adjusted today for this dimount.

Just stating that's it's not inaccurate to say the pro ls on sale a lot as the retina MacBook is generally on sale for $999

Sales must be tanking

Never seen an apple product discounted so early and heavily

Lol wouldn't be surprised if this went down even more. Even my dad, the biggest Apple fanatic, got tired of the huge size and sold it off on eBay. "What's the point of this? Might as well just use my MBA"

My exact thoughts, it's just unwieldy. Also unusable in portrait mode, something I use my iPad in half the time

You practically need a keyboard which means you're better off using a laptop which will be more comfortable and even lighter

I just can't imagine buying another iPad ever again. I still have a Mini 2 that I barely use.

Ever since the large screened phones came out, it kind of made having an iPad well, pointless for me.
I agree my iPad 3 just collects dust on the floor.

For the big IPad pro it does sound like an attempt to boost sales. At this point i have no interest in the big iPad though.that may change as my eyes get old one.

As you not it is big. However i think the bigger problem is cost. It simply is too expensive for what you get. IOS is too underpowered to be paying laptop prices for what amounts to a tablet and a crippled OS.

Free market. As long as there's demand, they can charge whatever they want. If no one buys it because of the price, that's Apple's fault, but they still sell millions.

At this point you probably should wait until next year (unless you get a really good deal around the holidays). Then again, you might be better off spending the money on a new MacBook and/or 5.8" iPhone next year.

I see the 12.7" iPad Pro as being for professional digital artists in an office environment and not for home users (except perhaps the extremely niche market of rich digital artists that work from home!) but here's the problem:

Professionals need professional (local) backup and storage capabilities for their work and I just can't see iOS and iCloud fulfilling those needs. The locked down nature of iOS (which might work well for home use) and lack of desktop-oriented organisation and file management tools is another factor.

It's fine if Apple wants the iPad to be a home-use toy or for light use only (email etc) but for serious professional environments iOS isn't well suited. This is where Microsoft's Surface, or more specifically a hybrid OS, has an edge. You can use local shared drives and install whatever backup (and other) software you need and the OS isn't locked down.

Except they will never stop doing so, and we won't really be able to do anything about that except buy refurb/used.

I recently replaced my iPad 3 with the iPad Pro 12.9 and I love it. The iPad Air now seems tiny since I got used to the bigger size in just 2 days. I even startet drawing again but mostly I use it for web browsing, posting, reading books and magazines and PDFs (awesome). The iPads I had never were working devices to me except for demoing. But I couldn't work on a laptop either – too small.

I got the 12.9 iPad Pro 128Gb/Cellular on a really nice deal on eBay and I have to say I really love this product. It is big enough to have great immersion and light enough to carry it around. Apple just needs to push more for devs to adapt their apps.

Only compelling way they'll draw anyone who wants a laptop computer is:
2 USB ports
1 SD card slot
Mouse compatability
OSX, or some sort of hybrid between iOS and OSX for the iPad
128GB storage as the initial one

You're arguing a heck of a lot with people here. The data shows people DO want it as a laptop replacement despite your own claims otherwise. Is it right for your dad or everyone? No. But there are many more that it has been a great fit for than those who it hasn't been. Settle it down, you've clearly wrong in your own assumptions.

Hm, really? Show me the data, please. Otherwise, it seems like that the iPad sales has been declining because of how the marketing is presenting the iPad, and the fact that people are realizing that they don't need to update every year.

Never is a long time. Even more successful and dominant companies have had to change their ways in the face of changing consumer preferences and stronger competition.

Indeed! I've waited for a larger iPad in the past, but when I saw the pricing and lack of added value for my needs, I decided to stick with my Air 2.

You can't price a tablet with a closed system (no SD card, no OS X) in the price range of a Macbook Air and then expect people to pay another premium price for an incremental change to their existing iPads.

Microsoft Surface is onto something, except I don't really want to exit the eco system and deal with Windows.
This iPad "PRO" was Apple's opportunity to create the OS X / iOS hybrid and I'd pay for the flexibility to ditch my MBA and use ONE device for 2 purposes.

The halo effect is wearing thin these days. $100 price drops ? who cares!
Give us better products.

Who says it has to replace a computer? That's what apple wants but why can't it just be an alternative to carrying a clamshell laptop around with a crappier screen?

That's fine, except that Apple specifically markets it as a full fledged laptop replacement for a lol those sad PC users that are stuck with 5 year old computers.

well the ipad pro is better than any 5 year old pc in its price range....

The haughty "serious professionals" talk is unprofessional and BORING. Plenty of people are using their iPad Pros as serious, money-making tools. If the Surface was superior for "professional" work it'd be selling, it's not, iPads are.
