I mean, don't they always use that excuse whether its actually true or not?

And say even if they didn't have stock, that does mostly like do to manufactoring issues rather than supply.

I mean, its great they somehow got more stock now, but people are already talking about the 2nd gen.

If Apple really wanted to, they could have made the launch a lot smoother.
Clearly you have information that I don't, otherwise you're just pulling this all from your behind. As you said, they had manufacturing issues, obviously that would affect stock if they can't produce as many units as they'd like.

And you really think they would purposely limit the number of sales they could have? That's just silly. Cook already said that June was their best month. That's because they had them in the stores for people to try and immediately buy. I don't know where you're from but Americans hate having to wait for stuff after they've been convinced to buy, myself included.

In addition, I would be willing to bet money that you won't see the second gen until next Spring at the earliest. Although, I think a summer or fall release is more likely. There's no way they spent over 3 years developing this to sell it for only 5 months.

Apple sells millions of iPhones every quarter because their customers are from far and wide. Not everyone has the convenience of an Apple Store nearby, and not everyone feels comfortable ordering online. Best Buy may not give you the best buying experience, but no doubt they still sell a few, especially if they aren't as stringent with "out of town" customers! ;)
I doubt anybody who's not comfortable ordering online is going to be in the market for a smart watch.

maybe they add a gps, or they have a faster processor. Its not an iphone or a mac, which some people cannot wrap their heads around. It doesn't need the same updates as fast as the other products. Who would want to facetime on an apple watch anyway? it most likely would have a 420p camera if it did. A gps would be nice for the runners out there and more apps which will come in time.

Be careful what missing features you diss today, because a Facetime camera on your wrist could become the must-have thing in the future :)

Didn't we hear Apple Watch was all about fashion?

Guess not.
I think that it is reasonable to conclude that the whole "in store" experience was a way to provide some cover for the fact that quantities were severely limited at launch. Apple is masterful in framing a negative as a desired alternative. :)

Who at Apple said the Apple Watch was only about fashion? Fashion and tech aren't mutually exclusive.

Nice. Got a lot of BB credit to use and can now earn reward points if I buy it again.

This can only be good news for Apple.

What would the watch need to "get good"?

Based on all of the excitement I'm reading about OS 2 it seems to me that the current watch owners see plenty of room for improvement. I am not one so I really can't comment on specifics. All I can say is that the current owners seem to be excited by future improvements so I'm going to trust their opinions over my own.

Well that settles it. This clearly proves Watch is a flop. :p
Precisely. It's all smoke and mirrors to hide the true fiasco of this product, and make us believe they're actually selling these things. Imagine that. The gall of those Apple folks.....

Seriously, I'm eagerly awaiting more stand-alone Apps, and AppleWatch v2.0 (not that there's anything wrong with the current one)

It's still a fact in 2015 that a MAJORITY of people don't order things online. Only 27% of people understand the internet enough to order things online.

http://www.dealjoy.com/how-many-people-shop-online--shopping/
This is crap because they don't take into account that less than 30% of the population on earth have access to a computer much less the internet. And I doubt those people have the means to buy a $300 watch. Food, clean water and shelter are probably more important priorities for them.

I paid $200 less for my 2015 15" i7 MBP then if I would have bought at the Apple store.

I have bought six out my last 7 Macs at BestBuy.

I bought my MacBook Air there last year because it was $100 off and I got 12 months same as cash. I maybe would've preferred an 8GB storage upgrade, but I didn't figure it would be that necessary. So far it hasn't been.

You will not see new Apple Watch hardware til next year. The watchOS 2 and the native apps are in the Christmas season sales. My guess is Apple Watch 2 come next spring at the earliest if not fall.
I don't know I doubt a hardware revision will release in one year. I predict 3 years maybe 2 but not 1.

Oh come on. Even the iPhone wasn't really worth owning until the App Store came out.

Pretty much every Apple product needs a year or two before it actually gets good.

So you're saying that you "don't get" why we're treating the watch the exact same way that every other first-gen Apple product is treated?

What's confusing about that? Why should the watch be any different?

Even cars are often this way. Back when I was looking for one in college, Consumer Reports said to stay away from one in the first two years of a model. Almost every car model got much more reliable in the third year and later, likely because instead of focusing on remaking everything the engineers can focus on fixing issues they found in the previous model.

First generation products are often basically a gamma test (after beta). I mean the product is fine for owning, but there are going to be issues with it that will be at the top of the "we fixed this" list on the second generation. See 3G on iPhone, cameras and magnetic covers on iPad.

Do you honestly think that anyone who is in the market for a smart watch doesn't know about online shopping ?

If you rephrase this to 'Do you honestly think that anyone who is in the market for a smart watch doesn't use online shopping?' Then the answer is a resounding YES.

My uncle, for example, is very wealthy, but over the age of 50. He uses computers every day, but he never orders anything online. He's scared and thinks his identity or credit card might be stolen. He hears stories about people ordering things online and only receiving a box with bricks in it. So, he only buys stuff at stores. There are plenty of people like this. In fact, I would RATHER buy something at a store than online. I only buy things online if I really know what I want and I'm forced to (it's not available anywhere else) - or it's MUCH cheaper than buying local. I'd rather buy a $20 item locally than pay $17 online. If it's $10 online, I'll buy it there.

You could argue the first gen iPad was one of the worst products released under Apple 2.0. Hence why when iPad 2 launched the first gen was discontinued. Apple has received a lot of criticism for not explaining the 'why' of Apple Watch but what was the 'why' for iPad? Because Steve Jobs wanted to be able to read email while he was sitting on the toilet? When Jobs first announced iPad he wasn't pitching it as a productivity device for enterprise. That's exactly where Tim Cook is pivoting to now in an effort to boost sales.
What? The original iPad literally crushed the hopes of every other tablet maker. Nothing even came close to its combination of battery life, fluid UI, and apps. Apple hit a grand slam with iPad because it was not rushed to market. The watch was introduced too soon, probably to fill a marketing void caused by the failure/cancellation of other projects like the over-hyped TV and the low cost iPhone. It's not a product that would have seen the light of day in the pre-Cook Apple.
