I own an Ultra 2 and thought that I'd look at what Apple offers toward a black Ultra 2, the answer is $50...seriously and they'll refurbish it and sell it online for $679? Honestly, I bought it used in mint condition for $550 and was just burning time.

It's an even better deal if you purchased the Series 9 on sale and didn't pay full price.
Fair enough! Personally I'd rather have a more premium model and upgrade less often than get a new aluminum watch ever year but that's a personal preference for sure.

The bestbuy $300 deal works in store, even if you don't see your exact model number online, for your trade-in watch. I went this route since some of the trade-in S9 45mm watch trade-in figures were $180 instead of $300. I didn't want any surprises later after I got the new watch.

So I went in with my box, cable, band, and watch. They only wanted the watch, so I got to keep everything else. They entered my serial number and said the trade-in would indeed be $300. At that point I turned off Find MY, and reset the watch. Once they could see on their system that the watch was off my account, they issued a gift card.

When you place your order for a new watch, they charge tax on the price of the new watch, not the watch after the trade-in discount. This is different from how Apple does it, so that cost me about $22 more than I expected. Still, $300 is a nice trade-in, especially since I paid $387 last year, and I get to keep the old band.

The unfortunately part is with Best Buy, I am not seeing them offing the new Titanium, only the new Ultra 2 and the new Aluminum. I remember getting my Gold SS7 on release date from Best Buy but I did not trade that year. It was the only one of my Watches I did not buy at Apple. I would have considered going to Best Buy trading but they are not offering what I want.

Apple is offering $365 for my Ultra 2 - is yours damaged?

Did you need the charger and band?
I asked I’m the Best Buy chat and they told me they only need the watch (I think I gave my band to a family member since I don’t like those sport bands). I don’t really trust that the online and in store people will be on the same page, so I took a screenshot of the chat in case that helps. Curious to hear if anyone has tried it without the original band.

No, it's in great shape and I entered the information correctly. I used the Best Buy calculator and it came back with $365. Oh well, it's not like I'm going to trade it in on a black model.

For grins, I checked my aluminum cellular Series 3.
Best Buy is offering $22, Apple is offering to recycle it. 😁

I am confused. I went to Best Buy’s website to check trade in value on my Series 9 aluminum. I also got the $300 trade in value. But, if I go to pre-order a Series 10 and try to include the same watch as a trade in, there is no option because they all say “w/Blood Oxygen” which my 9 doesn’t have. Thoughts?

Thank you for sharing this (and responding to my question about it in a later post)! I've been trying to find someone's experience regarding the band, box, and charger and really appreciate it! I bought my series 9 used for a killer deal (I think $280) from someone earlier this year, so if it all goes smoothly I think I'll get more from the trade in than what I paid lol. That is something I never expected to type.

I just left from trading in. I gave them the band. No charger. It was quick/easy.

I have a friend that just bought his last month for $280 from a Best Buy open box deal; I'm going to have him look into it since he might be in the same boat that you are.

Thanks... My particular question relates to what they will do when my model number (MR9Q3LL/A) is not one of the S9 Midnight GPS model numbers that they list on thier website. My watch came with a Nike band and it looks like all the trade-in model numbers were for sport bands.

I don't want to do the trade-in with BestBuy, if they decide to give me $180 instead of $300.
Just left trading in my watch, my model number didn’t match the website but it didn’t matter. I gave them the band, but others are saying you don’t need the band. I didn’t give them a charger. Walked out with a $300 gift card.

I got $365 for mine at Apple also. Do it again and double check your answers. I got $50 once and figure I misclicked a button.

Those trade-in were always just the device itself for me. I have a couple of original Apple Macbook USB-C chargers just sitting in a drawer as I just need one and nobody really wants to pay much for those big bricks. And so much more random leftover things. Most I end up having to throw away. Makes you wonder what happens to these trade-in devices, at least for Apple devices we know that unfortunately Apple has deals to get them back and have them destroyed. Apple doesn't want them to be resold if they can help it, so all you get is the precious metals recovery which is way worse than just re-using a perfectly working device as-is. In case anyone had any doubts what happens to them.

BB is offering $150 for my S7 GPS. I wasn’t planning on upgrading, but not sure I can turn down that offer.

Got $330 yesterday for my 45mm GPS series 9! No band of charger either. Turned around and pre ordered a gold 42mm titanium series 10.

@Ethan Coohill Did you order the Titanium from Best Buy?? There is only the aluminum showing on their website and the Ultra2, I did a chat with Best Buy and they stated they are currently not yet offering sales on the new titanium models as of yet.

Traded mine in yesterday. For a 45mm aluminum with cellular, they gave $180. Bizarre that cheaper watches have more trade in value, disappointing.

FYI, they never need a charger, band or box.
