i really want to know if they will be selling them earlier than 5 at walmart, because i think i'm going to go there next friday and scope it out. my guess is that the one by my house won't be crawling with as many people as the best buy or apple store.

Hmmm. If the weather is good that Friday, I may seriously consider taking the day off, working on stuff outside/on the cars for the first half of the day and then heading out to my local Best Buy (have a bunch of gift cards I can make use of...) to pick up a 32GB iPad 2.

Hopefully though, there will be a way to pre-order through BestBuy and just drop by to pick it up.

just read an article that said target came out today saying they will be selling the ipad 2 on or around march 11.

i think i'm going to drive around next friday to walmarts, targets, best buys, and see what the lines are like and scope it out then.

if the lines aren't bad at walmart i'll wait, i can't see there being too many around here waiting in line to get it there that soon. i just hope those stores are selling it before 5 p.m.

Just called my local wal-Mart, and they said they don't expect to be getting any at all. :(

The carriers subsidize phones because people have to sign up for 24 month, $30 a month data plans. iPad data plans are a la carte and could theoretically never be activated.

Personally I'm gonna get an iPad 2 and hotspot it on my iPhone for those once in a blue moon times

I won't be on any of those lines I'm still trying to decide if it's worth selling my 16GB 3g and upgrading or should I just wait it out for the 3rd ipad refresh. Keep in mind I just got mines in Nov, 2010

I am stoked to get the iPad2... It will be my first iPad so I don't have any reason to compare it or look for a refresh of any sort.

Like most, I am just wondering how many will be available and who will have them. I did notice the Target tweet today, but not knowing approximately how many each store might have (will Best Buy, and Walmart have them Friday) is my only concern.

I want it Friday! I hope in some way, shape, or form we might get an idea of how many will be available or I would even like to know when "stocks" will be replenished (have no problem waiting a few days to a week to get it in hand).

Slightly similar sitch:

Apple Store: 1-1/2 hours away
Best Buy: 5 minutes away
Walamrt: 10 minutes away
ATT Store: 7 minutes away
Verizon Store: 10 minutes away

But I have next Friday off. Probably not going to camp out in front of the "local" Apple store Thursday night. My walmart is 24 hr. Looks like I'll be camping in housewares.

LOL. But Apple is not selling them until 5PM. So Walmart will not be allowed to sell them any earlier than an Apple store can. I am sure Walmart and Best Buy are going to have to follow the same rules on the time. I work until 4:30 on Friday. I sent an email to ask if Walmart could tell me whether my store would be receiving any of the product on Friday. I doubt my Walmart will get any. Mine does however sell the current iPad so just maybe.

I hope Target gets them soon. Employees get a 15% discount + bonus 5%(pharmacy). Takes care of Tax plus an extra 10.25% off.

Target gives an employee discount on Apple Products? I thought most retailers don't discount Apple Products. Customers can't even use coupons on Apple products. That much be nice.

Walmart != Any Super Market

I really don't understand all the hate for walmart, it's the same as any super market

Walmart where I live, doesn't pay a living wage.
The Safeway, Lucky and other supermarkets are union shops.
Walmart has almost no full time employees and does not pay healthcare.
Walmart discriminates against women (multiple class action lawsuits).
Walmart contracts with janitorial services that routinely violate our immigration laws.

Walmart used to be good, when Sam was alive.
Now Walmart is run by bean counters and is a cr@p store.
I will not set foot in a Walmart, unless there is no other alternative.
I'll pay more before I shop there.

No point in selling yours if you are not going to use any of new features. Probably this time next year you will have better value for your money as new iPad-3 will have more features for same price.

Not to totally derail this. Have friends that work/worked at unionized grocery stores - they don't make more and can make less with dues. Go figure. Show me one retailer who hasn't had discrimination suits? Go check out pay on glassdoor dot com. Enlightening.

I shop there all the time, simply because their groceries are the same I can buy anywhere else just cheaper which leaves me more money for my Apple toys.
