I'm sure the OP appreciates the pissing match about the haves and have-nots, while he's shopping for his $2k car.

Considering the OP was the one who started the "pissing match", I'm sure he'll get over it.

Even if I could just launch one of those I'd be satisfied. I saw one do some launches at the track and I've never seen a car just shoot off the line like a GTR. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds looked almost boring -there was no tire smoke or spin at all. It was.... confusing and beautiful.

I love the GTR though I think I would take an older R34 over it...

Speaking of haves....I see this one kid on my campus that drives a GTR around. I always drop my jaw

so me and my dad went to go pick up my NEW CAR yesterday!!

its a 1988 camaro iroc-z it dosent start but after i dropped it off at the mechanic he said that it would only cost about 200 bucks to get it up and running so its not that much my original budget was about 2500 so i have about 1100 to do whatever i want to it. thanks for all your input and opinions but ultimately i got what i wanted lol

Err, okay. So you asked for opinions on a Mac forum. You got opinions. You didn't like them, so you went with what you wanted?

What was the point of asking for the opinion?

Anyways, glad you like your car. Congratulations.

Also:

Last I checked, your budget being $2,500 - $200 for repairs = $2300. You have $2300 to do what you want. Okay, taxes etc, you'll have $2200. Where did half the money go? Savings?

Nice score! The gray was a one-year only option and everyone loves the gray '88s. What's the eighth digit of the VIN? E, F, or 8? I'm guessing based on the wheels that it has the E code (base model IROC), and I see that it's a hardtop which is great...nice and stiff, and no leaky T-tops.

Nice score kiddo, have fun with it. :)

Here's your place to be from now on: www.thirdgen.org

I used to own one of those ... that $1100 will not last long ... you have quite the money pit on your hands

Actually, I'm pretty sure he didn't have his mind made up until I suggested the thirdgen Camaro.

He said he's looking for a muscle car at some point. Although 80s Camaro is hardly a muscle car, whether your specific suggestion was something he went off of is something only OP knows. Either way I congratulate him with the car. I'm sure he'll learn to wrench on cars now. :)

That's a cool car, if you can actually get insured on it then insurance for new drivers in the US is a damn lot better than in the UK for sure!

But yeah, enjoy it! :D
