Been bragging about my deal to anyone who will listen.
5 month old MBP 2.4 w/ multitouch. 2 gig ram, 200 GB HD.
1350 buy it now on ebay - 200 for live cash back (max 200) - 100 for ebay coupon 10% off
Total 1050 shipped.
I cant wait, it was a no brainer for me to buy, as before I was debating the refurb MBP (1500) vs new macbook (1499), then saying well its only 400 more for the new MBP.
Im can't wait for it to get here.
I was considering selling my SR 15" MBP which kills me because it is literally pristine condition with zero issues since day 1. I kept it immaculate thinking I was keeping it for quite a few years until I learned of the whole GPU issue thing and know it can fail now at anytime. So what do you think I should ask for it and it comes with the remainder of applecare and not a single mark or scratch of any kind. Mint condition. Thanks.
What's the point of selling it when you've got Applecare to take care of any GPU issue? You're not changing your mind about the new models are you?
Well to me my point is as much as I absolutely love my MBP the fact it has a ticking time bomb, known defective GPU that can fail at anytime, leaves me in a situation where I feel I can't trust it. I can't afford to go through the downtime or the potential collateral damages from a tech replacing parts. I have a thing where my machines are kept without a scratch throughout their lifetimes and If it gets damaged during a repair I wouldn't want it back again anyway. I know that may sound silly but it is just the way I am with my things and can't live with that kind of stuff. Not to mention the fact that they are going to replace the defective GPU with another one thats defective. This is a whole scenario that has me extremely upset with the investment I made in this machine. But as for the new Frankenbook design, well I havent changed my mind as to what I think of it, I might just get a PC Laptop and run Hackintosh till Apple re-designs them again or maybe buy a cheap macbook to hold me over. Not sure yet.
Either way I want to sell this now while it is worth as much as it will ever be.
I can understand your concern in some ways, but I think that you are worrying too much.
I am just as fussy as you about keeping my treasured possessions in pristine condition, and I have the same MBP as you by the sounds of it. Mine was bought in June 2007.
Now, my logic board packed up and had to be replaced by Apple under warranty last week. It didn't cost me a penny and the computer came back in exactly the same immaculate cosmetic condition that it was in when it went in for repair.
I am not spending time worrying about further failures.
My MBP is performing better than it ever did, particularly on the graphics front, which leads me to believe that the GPU was defective from the outset, well before the logic board failure.
I would have thought that you are likely to suffer the greatest loss in value by selling now because of the excellent deals that are available.
Keep it longer, relax, enjoy it, and get more value for money out of it!![]()
I understand, but whatever you do, don't go back to Windows! I am sure that you would regret that!
I got my new NBP classic today in the mail! I 'm in love! This thing is a real screamer, as Steve would say!I'm very impressed!
Sadly, my iMac G5 hard drive died apparently today! So while the MBP classic made my day sweet, the iMac G5 problem hampered it a bit.
