There is a Intel Release of MTR (3.0 build 14), which is a lot faster than the PowerPC version (2.66).

It's very much faster!

There is no one best. Not all of them work the same on different DVD's. So you really need multiples. Get RipIT, Handbrake, and Fairmount. Only RipIT costs money.
