Yep that is the bug. But I get it occurring many times during the day, for example when Brave saves a file into my download directory. I know Wenda has been working on it with no luck.

Do you have the problem after a restart of QSpace and before letting your computer lock?

This is a fantastic app. Everything works wonderfully. I actually like it better than Finder. The only thing is that I keep making the same mistake, probably because I’m so used to how Finder works. For example, when I cut a file or folder and want to paste it into another folder, I need to click inside the folder where the files are. I use Columns view, and in Finder I don’t have to go inside — I can simply highlight the folder and paste directly. I’m not sure if this is by design, and I suppose I’ll just need to get used to clicking inside the folder. Either way, I really enjoy using this app a lot.

Do any of them have an address bar, visible at all times, that I can just type in the folders I want to navigate to? Like Explorer?

Certainly QSpace does; it seems to work the same way that Explorer does. At the top of the pane I see.

I can click on any element of that path to navigate to that parent folder. If I click in that top area at the end or type cmd-L, I get the following...

I can type whatever I want there.

Most of them, like Marta, have a shortcut for that. Visible address bars - like directory trees, sadly - are more of a Windows thing than a macOS thing. Then again, one shortcut isn't much more complicated than one click into a text field.

Just downloaded Bloom and have a few observations:

I've found it to be difficult to configure
  • Connecting servers (Synology NAS and router-attached storage) is cumbersome and confusing
  • Setting View Options in one panel and clicking "set as default" does nothing for the other panes. Switching to a different pane and and show view options shows all of the "default" settings in the config list, but they are not applied to the current pane. Have to change them and change them back for them to be active.
  • There's a huge wasted space between the file name and the useful tool bar settings which get pushed to the far right. Configure Toolbar doesn't show any way to fix.
  • Documentation/help is virtually non-existent.
Overall, not incredibly impressive start.

Re Bloom....
  • I always connect my shares via the OS itself so have no problems with the shares
  • I right-click in the pane, click Show View Options set the options as i want them, and then click Use As Defaults, works for me with no issues.
  • I don't see any issue myself
  • I'll agree with that :)

I went back to the Bloom developer concerning this point and I got back:

There’s an option called Start from Current Location. When enabled, Bloom will automatically populate the search field with the path of the current directory.

Does that nelp, at all?

I implemented a kludgy "fix"... added 45 "spaces" to the right of the items in the tool bar. Now it's manageable.

I just installed the latest Bloom update and it asked me for my license number again, which I inputted. The app then said Bloom was activated on 3 devices (which it wasn't) and I can't activate. I deleted the app from my MBA as I didn't see a way to deactivate the license but, I still can't activate. I sent an email to the developer. Anyone else have this problem after the latest update?

I had this happen also. I emailed the dev and within an hour he had it fixed. He’s wicked fast. Not sure he ever sleeps either.

Bloom update.

Great to see the developer took my deactivation suggestion and implemented it with this update.

Perhaps Bloom's developer would be open to full-on feature suggestions and requests? What would be the best way to reach out?

I like Bloom from what little I played with it, but I can't use it because it just doesn't appear to retain any column width settings when in List View. Every time I open a folder, all the columns get skinnier and move to the left (toward the file name) even though I've adjusted them individually and saved the view as a default.

As a years-long Forklift Junkie - so much my muscle memory is attuned to the FL shortcuts, it seems - I will say that Bloom is the first time a new contender feels solid and useful, with many options and some very nice idea. Still no FTP and some workflows are so different that I do stuff like renaming batches in FL, but the support is great and the Tab-to-find function is superb.
