    HI

I am looking at a decent set up to replace my aging iMac 2011. Even with SSD it can't even keep up with showing 4k movies. Have a 2013 MBA trough work,

Hence I am looking at these two option (So far at least):
    1) 2015 MBP w or without discreet graphic card since I get an i7 processor so advice needed on this as well.
    2) iMac 21k made out with SSD, i7 and 16M RAM.
    3) potentially default iMac 5k 27" but I really fel it is too big and take up my whole desk.

Appreciate any insight since I have heard both that i7 is the most important for 4k editing/rendering while some say it is all about the graphic card.

    Thanks

The thinness will cause the iMac to heat up and throttle your CPU/GPU. Wait for a nMP or get one now and max-out the spec as your budget will allow. Look in the forums for the best 4k or 5k monitor to suit your budget as well. I hope this is useful to you. LMK.

No point in buying a MBP to watch 4K video since screen isn't 4K. Yoy'll need either a 21/27" iMac or a 4K screen to go with the MBP. I have the base model 2014 27" iMac and it doesn't even break a sweat with 4K.
