I think the Apple Support forums for Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Pro 7 are still active. You may also find that some of the digital video sites (like dvxuser.com) still have people working with classic FCP issues.

I think I saw your thread on Creative Cow. I don't have a good answer to your original question, but hopefully this will help as well:

Both Erik and Marco (previous link) are video guys using cMP. IIRC, Premiere supports both OpenCL and CUDA. Based on your other thread, I assume you are leaning towards a nVidia card. I just picked up a GTX980 for one of my cMP's and while I haven't put PPro CC through it's paces yet (I'm a novice at best), I've been quite happy with it.

Maybe it's better to continue in one thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/gtx970-to-cmp-w-ppro-ae.1908235/

Thanks for the link, very nice setup built over there.
Illustrates pretty nicely, that if us poor indie video makers really would prefer if Apple still released new classic MP models...

Main issue with GPU upgrade is in that thread: "I found there stuff 3 years ago about cs6, but after that, there has been3 new major versions cc7, cc2014 and cc2015.
There was some talk years ago about adding AMD support to Mercury engine, but I couldn't find any tests anywhere..."
