I had the red Speck case on my Alum Unibody and it left red marks on it. As soon as I saw it, it was off and shipped back for a refund. I'm very pleased with the Incase... no issues and it does the job.

As light as both cases are... it's hard to believe, but they both add almost a pound to the weight of the Macbook. I couldn't believe it so, I weighed them.

id probably go for the incase..luckily there are a lot of 13" incase hardshells laying around.

there are none of the 15"..ive looked everywhere. pulled the trigger on the speck.

speck satin and incase are pretty comparable. doesnt matter which one you get, both will work just as good.

I take it you're all the lucky people in USA.
On the UK apple store, there are no hardshell cases for the 13"MBP.

They only have the 13"macbook speck and Incase ones,
although on US store, they got the 13" MBP ones :(

I got the Macally IceShell the other day for my 13" Macbook Pro and whenever I opened the laptop the top cover would move and kinda come off.

I really want a clear one thats not too big/heavy. Too bad the IceShell couldnt stay snug or else it would have been perfect.

Any suggestions on clear cases for the 13" MBP?

Got the Incase MacBook Pro 15" black today. Very easy to install <2 minutes to clip in. Nice soft rubbery feel, nice look... so far so good.

The back of bottom is cut about 1-2mm lower than front so no problems with screen movement / view angle. I dont see any issues at the moment.

Ill be carrying my mbp with case around alot so im hoping there is no invisible rubbing points - but first impressions suggest a snug fit. Will stop scratches and the probably save from a dent inducing knock (which is what happened with my last mbp).

FYI, i weighed the case and it comes in at 433g. And it adds a 1.2 mm'ish to the dimensions but i guess there has to be a trade off somewhere.

At the moment - recommended.

I got the new 13" MBP hardshell case from Incase this week and I love it. I am not noticing any heating issues and the install was a snap. I am glad I waited instead of settling with Speck.

Just got my Speck Satin Red hardcase, i used the promo code and so far i love it. and you can open the laptop up pretty far. much further than my incase one for my White macbook allowed me.

I am in fact worried about the red markings someone had mentioned but I will let you know if that happens to me.

The new inCase tilts all the way back.

For anyone in the UK after the new INCASE 13" Hardshell for the 2009 MacBook Pro, search for product ID TX161ZM/A. Not sure whether the Apple shops have this but the website does.

Any suggestions on clear cases for the 13" MBP?

i purchased one of these from iSpot in Krakow today, i put on the top and decided to remove it, its going right back to the shop tomorrow! it does not even fit! it also feels a lot cheaper than the incase i own.

the reason i want a new one is because my girlfriend put a nail varnish remover wipe on top of my incase and it has peeled the matt finish off, but i would rather the damaged one on than the iceshell!

any suggestions....

I have heard too many accounts of people saying that after they removed their speck/incase hardshells their MBs had been scratched inside. THIS IS TERRIBLE!!! IT DEFEATS THE VERY PURPOSE OF THE CASE!!!:mad:

That being said, I just ordered the Incase yesterday

I dont unsdersatnd why they dont just put the same "satin", or whatever other fancy words you use for rubber these days, stuff on the inside touching the mac? That would solve the whole problem. I am very vexed thinking about their stupidity.

Anyway my idea was to line the inside of the case with electrical tape to protect the unibody shell, but then i got to thinking - electrical tape is will probably heavily insulate the computer and turn it into an oven. So my idea now is to get something like this and put one or two layers inside.

anyone own an incase or speck that can give any feedback on this idea

i would not do that to be honest!

my incase is perfectly fine, it has not damaged the macbook in any sort!

Thats good to hear

Thats really good to hear that yours isnt doing any damage. To just be able to pop it on and have no worries sounds like a dream come true.

And, yeah I do have my reservations about ghetto rigging my case with medical tape, but i figured i would rather that then a scratched MB :)confused:). I will have to look at the case once i get it and think it over more carefully.

Appearance isnt a big concern for me. But more iam concerned about adhesive leaking/smearing through and sticking the mac (especially when its hot ). Also if the tape will slide around and bunch up somehow??. I dont know maybe it is more a risk than a solution

Anyway thanks for the advice. I hope my case will behave as nicely as yours does. :D
