Can you say uncomfortable and unergonomic?

This thing looks tacky with the wires hanging out in the open, and extremely uncomfortable. Where does one put their plate of spagetti? How do you slide the keyboard around to your comfort? And where on earth does one place their wrists while they type? Mid air? Cute dorm idea, but I'd hate to be writing on it at 3am.

creative way of doing it.

however it just looks like the iMac is begging to fall over on the floor. i dont know. it just looks dangerous...but hey..maybe shes bolder then i am. or perhaps she has it secured and i cant tell.

either way...congrats for her. she is thinking different for sure.

heh...

unique... functional? not sure...

be nice, though :)

Who Cares?

Attractive? Thats a matter of opinion.
Functional? Definately not. You'd probably need antoher desk just to put your stuff on. Besides, how can you eat, sleep or drink in front of it? Not very practical for people who actually work on their computers or live in front of it.

It looks kind of spindly and unstable.. but the same could be said for the arm that holds the screen on the iMac, and we've been assured that is not the case.. It would never suit my needs, but it looks very distinctive, and if it suits the user's needs, I think it's great. I would need at least a shelf to house my firewire drives and a little undercarriage to hold a UPS would be a welcome addition. Some clear or frosted tubing to keep the wires tidy would also be an option. If one would be using the machine as a secondary computer (Something I think iMacs truly excel at) this would be a very presentable way to set up the computer in an unobtrusive manner.

Creative, but too much thought given to asthetics and not enough about functionality. Good try though. Think I'll stick with my moded light table : )

Gotta feeling the highly creative Flashgoirl will not be dating you, Mr Slobby!

optical mouse

I am surprised that the optical mouse works at all on that surface, I was under the impression that it would not work on clear or mirrored surfaces, and requires some kind of visual texture to track correctly.

You are correct.. My optical mouse doesn't work on glass or shiny polished surfaces.. It requires surfaces which don't reflect too much light to work.. On glass like that, it would be completely *useless*.

I like it! It's not exactly my style, but it fits and I'd say it is definitely along the lines of that "sterile" look so inline with Apple's latest style. Now you just gotta tame those cords...!

That desk looks to be about as functional as a bar stool for a computer desk, but less stable. I picked up a new desk for my computers a few months back and set it up. It has a good size keyboard tray, a raised section for my 19" monitor as well as a pair of raised sections above that for other things (my 17.4" LCD and scanner). The platform on the bottom is where I have my CPUs sitting, along with my UPS.

Now THAT is functional. I got mine at Staples, but I have since also seen it at inCompUSA.

That is truly the computer novice's "desk" arrangement. talk about worthless.... Hell, it's not even interesting to look at, i mean its a modded chair for crying out loud! Blah two thumbs down, way down..

I like the creativity. Between the desk and the iMac its about as un-Wintel as you could imagine.
Nice...

Very creative... very cool.

I personally need a lot of desk surface space, so it definitely wouldn't work for me. Heck, then again I just cover all my surface space with a lot of JUNK, so I actually end up using no more desk space than what's shown.

Makes me rethink my own space... wanting it to be cooler :)

That's funny. What optical mouse do you use? I just tested my Apple Pro Mouse on a clear plastic surface, nothing beneath it to reflect the light except the floor a few feet down, and it works fine.

See the table I use at the following link :-

Now THAT's functional.. clean, uncluttered.. a real desk.. and is that table lit from underneath? It looks like it's glowing.. pretty cool! (And a mousepad so the optical works)..

Note to the guy who said it works on glass.. it CAN work on glass, it just works very poorly.. as tested with both an Apple Pro mouse and a Kensington optical. Trust me when I say I'm very conscious about materials for using the mouse on. I take my Kensington optical with me everywhere with my iBook because I hate trackpads and I notice in cafes what kinds of table surfaces work best. Wood, or other duller materials work perfect. Glass or very shiny (like polished marble) work very poorly or not at all.. it's in the instructions that come with the mouse that this is the case as well!

I like it. jeez u guys r critical. im a big fan of curves. all those square desks are just that... square. a nice curvey desk is nice. i use my computer on my bed, couch, or lab top. but ive considered lately building my own desk. i have to say that flash here's desk isnt what id make but its got a lot of good little ideas in there. sure its a little sterile but it definitely shows of the imac nicely, and if your cords are long enough you could push the little girl all around the house and have a portable desktop. mmmm... computer in the bathroom.

Mac Desks...

Anyone else interested in sharing pics of their Mac desks?

I think it'd be good to get some ideas on making the their 'physical' desktops more ergonomic.

PS - sorry for not posting my own. I'm still saving for a digital camera.

You missed having sex, but of course, how come some one like you that devotes the entire day in front of the computer can even have a real date?

The desk looks fine for me, I have seen wors, for sale and in different colors.

Is very artistic but I would argu about the weels and the support. I'm 6.3 and after 10 secunds my legs would be kicking that thing away, no room for legs. But really looks platenary, the only thing missing is a white color to make it shine under a dark fluorecent light!
