I have MyWi. I haven't used it yet. I'm just afraid that if I do AT&T somehow will find out and move me to a tethering plan. If anything, I'll be using that on emergency situations only. Browsing and whatnot. Hmm. Maybe stream Pandora on my iPod touch thats in my car. :)

??? Couldn't you just use the iPhone? I don't think they could detect that usage though, as they would see an iOS device, so they would have no way of distinguishing the two...

I used MyWi for 24hrs straight a few months ago when my DSL went down. I never heard a word from AT&T.

Second, i am gonna try the desktop client for pdanet and the app. How secure is for my internet privacy via usb?

Any way it is pretty secure. Of course, it is always going through your carrier's network...

Thanks, well thanks for all the answers i think i read and researched enough if anyone knows a free way to usb tether ill be glad to hear it. I tried pda .net but i dont want pc clients also the client for pda net installed a driver that replaced my modem driver and i needed to re download the old driver.

Just pay for MiWi. It does Wifi, USB, and Bluetooth.
 
Not worth it, i only use it when i have to work in my other office and there is wifi i will just register my laptop in the wifi network.

For $20 one time, it is a good deal for when you're traveling, as a back up to regular connections, etc. Of course, it's not a replacement for anything else, as you can burn through the 2GB cap pretty quick...
