Organized religion might fit, but I could see reasons to put it in both threads.

Controlling fire, required numerous inventions. So while it's a discovery, controlling it required invention.

Hydrogen is the future! but Electric cars will become mainstream first because they need to be charged using power which comes burning coal. once coal power plants are diminished work will have been finalised on Hydrogen engines and storage.
