Paying 200$ to make your iphone white and void your warranty is the ******* thing i've ever heard.
This guy is talking a lot of sense and we should listen to him. He's right about the things he's saying and I encourage him to keep saying them in threads like this.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with "Fred" at iFixDirect, spending about 20 minutes talking about the various issues people have had here and what they're doing now to avoid them in the future. He was very forthcoming about some of the issues they've had (and continue to have) with suppliers and their plans for the future. While I certainly can't recommend them based on a single phone call, I will say that I'm leaning toward iFixDirect as my choice for conversion if and when I decide to make the switch (and have fun voiding my warranty, CZK!!).

Who are you calling a troll ? Troll

All what i stated is true. When you convert your iphone like this it voids your warranty.

There is no logic behind that.

I can take my white phone, reinstall the black parts and have full warranty again. So tell me how that voids my warranty?

1- There is some seals inside the iphone to see if it has been opened/modified. As you know, in order to change the front plate you need to take it apart completly.

2- It is against Apple's warranty agreement.

Putting black pieces back makes your chances better ( since they probably wont check inside), but it is still fraud and you know it. But hey if you are a thief, go for it.

lol

there are no real "seals". There is a white dot covering a screw on the motherboard, that can easily be lifted off with a flat head screwdriver and placed back. There is also a lot of adhesive, but that can be softened and readhered by using light heat from a hairdryer.

LOL if your ever having problems with your white iphone, just switch the parts back to black? then get it exchanged at the apple store. theres no way to tell if you opened it up anyways..sounds like hes just jealous he doesnt have a white iphone..

FYI - BestBuy and several other retailers announced today that the white iphone 4 will be available on Feb 27.

If you don't want to buy a replacement, you'll at least be able to get OEM parts, and say bye bye to the $250 screw-you price places are charging to convert-to-white :)

I'm guessing this is why ifixitdirect is expanding into blue and red. I also had some correspondence with a rep at iResQ last week which indicated he expected to be able to get OEM white parts sometime soon. I'm definitely holding off now until we see what happens in February.

Yeah i just read the article on macrumors, its very interesting because bestbuy actually done the same thing when apple rumored to release it earlier but then pushed it back. If the white iphone does come out, im going to be really excited so i can compare mine to the original. I wonder how much will they charge for it and whether Verizon will get it.

On another note, im going back to ifixdirect today again to fix my slightly crooked home button so ill post an update shortly.
