the apple in-ear do sound great.. ebay is the best route to get them for $45.00

hell you could even buy them @ apple or bestbuy, get them off ebay and return the ebay ones to bestbuy/apple.. lol

shady but smart.

U need to have the recipt of the purchase done from bestbuy in order to return them back.

did you buy 100% authentic ones? the apple branded REAL ones are full of bass..

You have to be kidding. They were the flattest pieces of crap I've ever bought. Returned them within minutes of getting them out of the box. When the STANDARD earphones are miles better, there's a real problem!

For some people, like me, the Apple In-Ear earphones are awesome. The key I have found is to get proper ear canal seal. Otherwise there is little to no bass. The dual armature design provides great sound and adequate sound stage size.

The only earphones I found that sounded better to me cost over $300. The best were the Shure SE530 earphones. But I am not spending that kind of money on portable earphones.

yess..

buy from ebay,
also buy from bestbuy,

return ebay ones to bestbuy.
keep bestbuy ones.

pretty simple eh?

and sidewinder your comment you made is the first time ever ive agreed with you. lol

the sad thing is that the $80 apple in ear are dual driver

for being dual driver, they have some of the weakest bass i have ever heard. I've seen the soundstage spectrum for the two drivers, and they choose to emphasis mids on one driver, and highs on the other driver. They should have chosen to emphasize low on one of them, and highs on the other ( the middle would be filled in by both)

I've heard better high and low response from a single driver earphone

Exactly. When I heard about the tech in these I thought Apple had finally made a truly decent pair of headphones. I stick with the regular earphones now because of the remote, mic and nike+. If you can suggest a better pair, at any price, with these feature I'm all ears, pun unintentional :)

Ultimate Ears....

Triple fi. Had the one below it and they are very good too. But the refinement is in the triples.

You can get custom molds for them from the earplusgstore.com. But some people have had local ones made with good luck for less.

It's nice when exercising not to have to feel the plugs at all. Or when just listening.

Triple.fi

I have the UE Triple fi vi's which cost over £200 (my Senn IE8's (£180) which I loved more than any other earphones were unfortunately mauled by the dog).

Good all round sound and adequate bass when you get a good seal with the UE's although I preferred the fun sound and deep bass quality of the IE8's which did not have the mic.

Now if only Sennheiser would bring out replacement cables for the IE8 with the mic and funtion control, I would sell the UE's and a new set of Senns right away...

I used to have the Klpsch Image X10 (again without mic) and I found that where they are so small I could not get any decent seal and therefore no bass. Does anyone who owns the new Klipsch S4i's with normal to large ear canals have any difficulty forming a seal to ensure that there is a good amount of bass?

I was thinking of going down the mod route with a set of JVC Victor HP-F500 as I hear the bass is sublime for a set of <£100 earphones (mail order from Japan only though, as the UK versions HA-FX1000 are over £200!!). Anyone know if these can be modded (the internal spec diagrams look quite complex for earphones).

I got the skullcandy fmj for the iphone for about £50. I didn't really want to spend more than that for in-ear headphones with a mic and control button. A bit bass-heavy and I had to get used to the eartips, but I'm happy with them. I had them since February.

what are peoples opinions for the best cans w/ iphone functionality? i had the vibe duos which were great until the functions got jacked when i upgraded to a 3gs. id like something that i could take calls with, maybe fast forward / pause music but volume control isnt that important.

i tried on the dre beats at the apple store yesterday and they sounded great w/ the playlists on my phone. but after searching opinions on them, all sorts of people are hating on them (mostly people who dont actually own them). i also tried on a few pairs of bose but dont know if they have similar (original apple headphone) functions + the noise canceling on them made me feel like my equilibrium was off. any thoughts / product links would be great -- thanks...

i had the dr dre ones for about 3hrs, didnt like them, hardly any bass, these are the in-ear ones im talking about..

I picked up a blue set of Shure SE115 with the mic.
I like them :)
comfortable and sound decent. The mic button is great with voice command but you have to control volume from the iphone.

I've had them and they sound great, but they broke easily and leaked too much music. You can't blast the music without everyone on the bus listening. When the music is not blasted, no bass and does not eliminate all outside sound. They're literally speakers. Also in under 4 days there was a crease on the headphones (the glossy black part). I take care of my items a lot as I did with these beats, but they're not durable at all. I do miss them though a lot.

I'm in the market for new earphones and so far I haven't made up my mind reading this thread.

All of previous Apple's earphones I had have been busted one way or another.
The most annoying is that the outer plastic peels every single time.

Now on my iPhone's earphones, the right one has lost a great deal of its volume for some reason (that's after 6 months of having them) and the button constantly fails to work.

Does anyone know if the 1 year guarantee covers the earphones as well?
If not, can we get some opinions on what earphones to buy? Including of course full control over a 3G/3GS (play/pause/skip/previous, voice control, answering/holding etc)

I'm looking to replace a lost pair of Skull Candy Full Metal Jackets. Do all Shure SE115's have an in-line mic for the iPhone? I've been looking at the Image S4's which get good reviews. There's also the Klipsch Image S4i at £30 more but not sure of the difference? Has anyone any specific experience with these?

I am using these and I like them A LOT. Very neutral sound.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for the same qualifications as the starter of this thread and these earbuds seem exactly like what im looking for:

http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/image-s4i-overview/

recommended by another person on this thread...

anyone else have experience with them? seems like all the functionality im looking for and it sort of falls right into my price range.

On top of that. do you guys think i should wait till black friday for a better deal on them? i would hate it if i buy them now and i there is a ridiculous deal on black friday where they pretty much pay you for the the product (i man can hope...)

I use the Klipsch Custom-1s.

I find having the memory cord on the back means they actually stay put (unlike other in ear phones I have had). You can get a mic adapter for any headphones.

Of Course, if you really want the BEST Headphones, look no further than the Stax Omega II:

Of course, not quite as portable as you might like :D
