I want to buy a phone. The only phones in my budget are the Nexus S, Galaxy S, Desire S and the iPhone 3GS. I have sold my iPod Touch 2G to buy this, so I need one with outstanding music quality (I already have amazing Sennheiser headphones, so those aren't a problem). I would go for the iPhone 3GS, but won't it become outdated in an year, when Apple stops providing iOS support for it? Also, how is the audio quality in these Androids which I have listed. I know they can't be better than an iPhone, but is it atleast on par? Could someone who has heard music on these phones (via headphones, not the mobile speakers) tell me which one should I go for?

Nexus S (4G) has some pretty decent sound, once you unlock/root and install the Voodoo Kernel. I think there is a non-root version of Voodoo, but i've never used it.

Check out Yuin.
I've A/Bed the PK1, PK2, and PK3. The PK2 is perfect. The PK1 sounds practically the same as the PK2 (at least unamped) but costs twice as much.

I've also A/Bed the AKG K311, AKG K318, Shure SE215, V-Moda Bass Freq, Klipsch S4, and Klipsch S4i. The PK2 is still by far better in all frequencies.

OP, get the Yuin PK2. They are actually amazing sounding.

This. These are by far the best headphones for the money.
For the same price, you can get the Yuin PK2, which sound a million times better. Even without comparison, the bass on the S4i is muddy/has no clarity. The mids are also extremely scooped out and the highs are tinny. In other words, it's frequency range is an extreme disco smile. If all you care is bass quantity over quality, sure, go for it, but the quality is really bad.

Interestingly, the S4 sounds totally different from the S4i. The S4 doesn't have much bass.

You really need to audition the Yuin PK2. I think you'll be blown away, especially if you A/B it against your S4i.

-Great sound (duh)
That really doesn't mean anything. Who shops for poor sounds quality anyway? You need to qualify what you think is good and what you think isn't good if you want to use this as shopping criteria. If we all had the same notion of good sound then we'd all use the same head/ear phones.

I've said in several in other threads: Sol Republic -- a new brand that is high quality, great sound, and great price.

Agreed. It's the reason why there are so many conflicting reviews that only confuse potential buyers. Meaningful reviews would be ones that have a reference point, i.e. have done some A/Bing. "Great sound," "fun," and "technical" have meaning for you but not for others because what's a "fun" frequency range for you may not be for others.

I think you're going to have a hard time finding good pairs of earbuds. Almost every earphone is an in-ear earphone.

Wait, so you're looking for headphones or Apple/iPod style earbuds?

Most earbuds are now in-ear style, because it's simply easier to get better sound quality out of a tiny driver when it's sealed into your ear canal. Some people don't find this style comfortable (it isn't until you get used to it) or don't want to have outside sound sealed out.

Nothing wrong with this, it's personal preference, but be aware you'll probably end up paying the same for lower quality sound with less clarity... If for no other reason that they're not allupin your earholes.

When I saw their AD on facebook, although I never heard of them, based on their photo gallery and their description, I decided to give it a try, I received it last Friday, currently I own Klipsch S4, Dr. Dre Beats and Bose comfort 3, so I am not easy to be impressed. But still their sound quality suprised me a lot.

IMHO, the Bose earbuds have good sound quality, but are definitely not the best at the price point. Bose is kind of an audio in-joke because they refuse to release real hardware specs for what you're buying, and for a reason.

The Dre Beats offer a lot of bass with a muddled low and high end. My hearing isn't as good as it used to be (very bad ear infection) but there's still a noticeable difference to me between the models you listed and the Shure SE215's I ended up going with. YMMV, of course, and it's important you get what you think sounds best. :)

For exercising Im trying these YurBuds http://store.yurbuds.com/index.php/behind-the-ear-headphones/yurbuds-ironman-endure-pro-dry-mic.html

They sound fine while running, they dont seal in your ear so you can still be aware of sounds around you, something I like when running the wild streets of an urban area. The design is such that there is very little movement while "locked" in your ear so im not constantly trying to adjust or push them back in while running. Overall they have held up well but the true test will be summer heat and humidity.

What is the difference between the a-JAY three and the a-JAY four? i know that the Jay three is the top of the line of the Jay One series, but the only difference with the four is that it seems to be more hyped w/ iphone 4 compatibility and app + remote toggle. Which of the two, between the three and four is a better sounding headphone?

Big fan of the Bose MIE2!

I don't won these, but I have heard that they are very good for non in-ear earphones (if non in-ear earphones are a must).

Just look at the Amazon reviews for these and the non mobile versions, IE2.

I just bought the Bose IE2i and I'm going to return them. They are by far the most comfortable earphones I've ever tried but I don't think the SQ matches with the price.

Im interested in headphones that have the feel to the earbuds that came with my iPhone but albeit a MUCH better sound any suggestions that arent astronomically expensive eg.Beats by Dre?

Yuin PK2. Yuin PK3 is half the price, but still better than iBuds. PK2 sounds incredibly better though.

Thanks the nuforces look cool but I hate those "In Ear" headphones they never stay in ill check out the Yuins thanks guys

I can't recall what I paid, but for less then $40 I got the skullcandy Fix'd - rests in your ear, not in the canal, the mic/control, etc. Main purpose for me is somehting that doesn't bug my ears, stays in on my bike ride (hour long to work) and I don't feel @#!% if I realize later I did the laundry without checking all my pockets.

I need some new headphones and I don't really know what to get. Here is what I want:

-In-line music and volume control.
-Not the style that actually goes into the ear. iPod style not noise isolating style
-Great sound (duh)
-Flat wires would be nice but not necessary
-under $100

Any suggestions?

Bose ie2 barley fIt in your ear, that's why I returned them, maybe they'll work for you.
