I bought iRec Voice Recorder and it's really good, it works with my iPhone 3G and with my wife's iPod Touch 2gen.
It's easy to use and it working really good so far.

Nice to say your affiliations with said company winner :) Nobody loves a schill, but it's good to have developers and promoters here if they don't hide it.
No need to do on the quiet advertising... https://macrumors.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

I agree with you 100%.
I'm a developer and I tell everybody to check my app iRec Voice Recorder but I hate when developers create a fake member ID just to promote their own applications without saying they are the developers or they are related to the company that created the application.

An entirely new type of sound app. full editing on iphone

Hi there. If you really want an advanced sound app, check out our new product called 'Poddio' on the app store, or at www.vericorder.com. It was named one of the Top Ten New Technologies at CES 2009.
Poddio is not just a recorder. It is a full featured sound editor. For example, on Thursday I made a live concert album in five minutes.
I'm a former reporter with CBC, Canada's national news broadcaster, and I use Poddio to record and create news stories that can go straight to broadcast.
A lot of these recorders are very good, but none can do editing.
With Poddio, you can send directly to your computer. Soon, you will be able to access all your Poddio files from any computer in the world. We just did this in beta. You can also share your sound files with other iPhones, as long as they have Poddio too. We'll also add email ... and the nice part is you can just send the part you want.
You wanted ring tones? Poddio allows you to create 30 second sound files, send them straight to itunes, where you can convert them to ringtones. If you check it out, post your thoughts; we're always looking to improve!

using mics with iphone

I'm an iphone developer. We make poddio recorder/editor. We also make a mic that will be available for $20 in April.

However, there are mic options. Macally, Belkin, and Griffin all make mics that will work in the 30 pin connector. I personally find Macally
s and Belkin's works best with my program.

To attach a high-grade mic is more difficult, as they generally use XLR balanced input connections. You would need an XLR cable with an adapter allowing it to plug into the headphone port. Not sure if anyone makes on, but I have been thinking abput it.....

Only thing i dont like is that iDicto records in 22.100KHz in a semi-compressed audio format... not bad quality and file management, and just requires a web browser to sync. the web interface it hosts on the phone is quite good.

Has anyone figured out how to hook up a real microphone to the iPhone just yet? I want to start using this phone as a digital audio recorder...

best ringtone maker

Which recorder works good to make voice ring tones?

I'm a competing developer; I make Poddio, which is an editor and recorder.
however, right now, the best recorder to make ringtones is speakeasy.
That said, Poddio will make ring tones soon ....

italk is the best

italk is the most known one and the most reviewed on youtube

there's even one that is professionally reviewed by this dude in glasses, he apparently has his own online company thing going i believe and is some genius that does ALOT of reviews

i'm glad i watched it, because on itunes it only received 3 1/2 stars

but reviews on itune were wrong, the quality is so freakishly amazing, so good that i joined this site just to tell you guys

ITS FREE !!!

sure a premium version just got released, but it doesn't have much on it except abilities to edit, but if you want it feel free to pay for the new version or use your jailbreak abilities if you wish

try it now !!!

how can this not be on the list??:D

Do any of the voice recorder apps on non jailbroken phones with large files, greater than 2 hours recording synch or transfer to your PC? Voicenotes won't.

Just get 3.0 when it's out next week, I don't know about 2 hours, but I know that it can cope with 1hr+ certainly, and syncs straight to itunes, I have a recording around an hour long I did on beta a while back, though there were a few issues with it back in beta, they seem to have been sorted now.

It's really unfortunate that none of these apps seem to really be able to get a file to a computer while syncing instead of through some kind of internet-based mechanism. E-mail is not great for longer files, and third party web apps are not appropriate for sensitive information. It would be ideal if it could just somehow put the file into iTunes when you plug the iPhone in.

There aren't any Installer.app / Cydia / Jailbreak apps that can do that, are there?

Wait until iPhone OS 3.0 on Wednesday - Apples own new voice memo app syncs with iTunes & I would suspect that other apps will be able to do this, too...

Sounds good....except I need to get that 3 hour meeting off my iPhone that was recorded on voicenotes. I suppose I can use an RCA jack connected to an archaic tape recorder but you cannot stop or pause the recording on voicenotes as it restarts from the beginning.

back up your iphone, and get an iphone backup decoder, and cross fingers you can find a usable file in there? should be easy enough to spot I imagine, a 3 hour recording should be pretty big.

I like the idea of being able to email recordings! Nice! :)

I hope the recorder that Apple is adding to 3.0 will be just as good as the best of these and be able to email recordings.

Wiretapping laws? (I think they just went down the drain. There is no way in heck that the govt will be able to enforce this when the entire American population is carrying voice recorders in their pockets)
Have you noticed the trend? There are all kinds of things that were considered sneaky to carry around, such as voice recorders, video cameras, cameras, etc ... but cell phones are hiding all of these things into the cell phone device that is now considered "normal" to carry around. Very interesting.

thanks. i'm using windows though. i wasnt able to locate the decoder for a windows based machine.

Ah, that would make life more difficult yes, I think may have to find someone with a mac to do it, not sure I can think of any other solution
