Best laptop for daughter @ college?

There's ton of portable 13-16+" USB C displays on the market, 4K OLED or 4K IPS. Really convenient for dual screens when at home/dorm. I got a 16" 4K OLED connected to 16" MBP and it's awesome. It'd pair great with a 13" MBA for a bigger screen plus infinite contrast and similar brightness.

Personally I wanted the 15-in monitor for her. I like more screen real estate

But my daughter said hey Dad I've been using a Chromebook for high school which is 13 in for the last 4 years and I'm used to that size so she's like I'm fine with a smaller one. Plus it fits in her bags easier and she says it feels a little lighter more portable.

I'm with you - I'd pick the 15". But if she's settling with the 13", more power to her! At least she's willing to give Apple a shot considering you're a Windows/Android household!

Don't forget to get her an external drive to back up and an iCloud subscription so she can have a redundant backup online
