Thanks MacDann for the verification on the drive. This will be the 1st time I am attempting something like this ( I am fairly new to Apple...but I can tell you, I have NEVER been happier with a OS/Computer!. I am in the process of phasing out the 2 other PCs in my house. My next purchase will be an Imac sometime later in the year).

With regards to the MIgration assistant, is it a long process?

Does it pull over all the programs ( like Ilife, Iwork, and things I have installed)

A wise choice on your part. I'm down to one PC in the house, and that's only because work won't support a Mac-based VPN client. :(

As for Migration Assistant, it depends on the amount of data you need moved over. If you've never used it, it's sweet. It will migrate not only your data, but all of you account information and settings, even for things like your mail accounts, keychains, etc.

I'll be doing the same on my MBP in the next couple of days when I can get around to it. I'm really looking forward to having a 320G drive in this monster.

My job wont do the Mac-based VPN either...I wonder why that is? I actually work from home so basically have to keep one PC in the house.

My macbook has a 120 GB Hd....and its at 81GB left. I assume that some ( if not alot of it) is the OS and the programs. My wife purchased Apple Logic Pro 8 for xmas...and I have not installed it yet (mostly because I wanted to look into a new harddrive before taxing it with another 42GB). I at least will not have to transfer that.
