The great MacRumors User Name poll has been launched. I only listed ten options - a more or less random sampling of people who posted in this thread and names submitted by the people who posted.

So anyone not mentioned here - don't worry, it's only because I wanted to keep the poll to a reasonable length, not because you're not worthy!;)

Ok of the 90,000 something members I keep seeing the same 20 or so names, can't we find some others.

I like this one, MacGyver

I cant take all of the credit for my name. I thought up MacBoobs but Dynamicv told me to put Pro on the end. :D

spicyapple
katie ta achoo
blue velvet
skunk
zimv20

The reason I chose the names I did is because of what I associate visually with their name. Spicyapple's Generations ad was brilliant and her posts in the the political forum definitely have spice to them.

I can't think of katie's avatar but it always brings a smile to my face when I see her user name.

BV has the mysterious woman in blue in her avatar and Bobby Vinton's song always starts to play in my head when I see it.

skunk's name is hardly original or fascinating but his avatar is a toad so I always think of him as that skanky toad :D

Zim's previous avatar I could never figure out. Was it a lightbulb? Anyway, the squiggles in it always intrigued me.

But are they the best usernames or just the ones you see all the time, I think this thread is getting off topic and we are not searching for the more obscure names that might be the best.

Randomly searching the member list I found these names,
AppleJustWorks
dreamsINdigital
Jeewhizz
itgoesbuzz
Cordless_Drill
T.Rex
and my favorite,MmmPancakes

Well, if someone came here and created a username but never or rarely posts, what's the point? Personally, I don't find anything exceptional about the ones you listed nor do I think the scatological or sex related names are all that inspiring.

Each of us will define what's "the best macrumor's user name" based on our own criteria. Some people are going to find the ones with scatological references funny, some aren't. To each his own.

But what Im saying tho is of the 90,000 members surely there are some great names that haven't been mentioned. Just because a member doesn't post as often doesn't mean that their name isn't any good.

I can't remember where I saw it but supposedly a small percentage of forum members, say 5% make 90% of the posts. 20% make 8% and the remainder make up the last 2%. Therefore, the people who post the most are going to be the most memorable while the people who never post aren't going to have any board recognition at all.

Personally, I can't see spending hours paging through 90,000 member names.

But isn't the point of this thread to find the best user name, not the one that everyone knows.

So then... we agree... DrStrangelove rocks! ;)
