Where isn't AT&T's service horrible?

I find it worse indoors than Verizon, but outside it's every bit as good. And it's not like AT&T has *bad* service indoors; I just don't get as good reception as I did with Verizon.

ew verizon. I have them and they suck.

Have fun with your crippled phone and ****** verizon OS.

Yeah, aside from the reception, everything else about vzn is crap. The locked down phones, the lousy OS, the high prices... ugh. Don't miss 'em.

The Voyager looks like it's meant to be a iPhone knock off, tacked on top of LG's sidekick style design, with a full qwerty keypad. Even the icons are meant to replicate the iphone...to the point where I can't imagine why there aren't lawsuits in the works. Design wise it could be the best of both worlds.

I hate my Treo 700wx. I'm told newer models are improved but I think there's a clear reason why most business users are using Blackberrys..

Meanwhile, none of the non-Apple PDA phones will fully sync to OSX natively without an added application. Missing Sync works well with the Apple apps. though.

As for the iphone, even it's browsing can be difficult. Navigation doesn't always work so well, and the back buttons (probably the most important feature of a browser) aren't nearly as intuitive or functional as they should be. On top of it, the ringtone choices are awful.

I am trying to find a phone for my daughter for christmas. Would love to get her the iphone, but where she goes to school, Verizon provides better service and all her friends have verizon as well, so right now, Verizon is our only option. I would love to get her a phone that is "cool" and she can text on. No need for email or browsing, but something that she can put some good ringtones on. My question is are there any verizon phones that will with with her Macbook Pro? Maybe thru bluetooth? I had even thought of that Blackberry Pearl, but maybe that is overkill. Any thoughts?

currently the voyager is the best verizon phone in my opinion...even with the lack of mac integration. i will be getting the voyager myself in a couple weeks. Voyager

I think if your not going to be using the web or email the Pearl is overkill especially with the $30 data plan. Since ou do not care about email and web the Env is an option.

i am very new to these forums ;)
i have a macbook v10.5
i am switching to verizon soon
and since the iphone is out of the question
what is a good phone with a full keyboard, good web browser, can connect to Leopard so i can grab pictures and what not

price < 350$

i hope this is the right place to ask
thanks!

Palm Treo WM5 700wx.
Hate to say it but this phone does 50x the number of things the iphone can do. It's easier to use and has limitless 3rd party apps. It's faster, easier to type on, etc. The only feature the iphone has over the treo is visual voice mail. Amazingly it's also extremely stable. I had the 700w and that was awful. The 700wx is the best phone and best pda and best combination I've ever used.
Blackberrys are for ppl that need handholding. There isn't a blackberry out there that does more than treo. BB's only advantage is seamless exchange functionality.

+ it runs windowslive which has an amazing voice recognition thing. imagine saying "pizza near 90210" or "John Smith, near Washington DC" or "seafood restaurant near 123 smith street." It's flat out amazing and a huge google maps killer (at least until google gets its triangulation thing worked out).

You should totally save some money and get an LG Chocolate! :p

>>I'm kidding. I have a VZN Chocolate and it's hideous. Reception is decent, but the voice quality is horrid, the mic is terrible so nobody can hear you, and it's running the typical flashy VZN interface which has incredibly limited sync capability despite running on a bluetooth phone.
I was planning on dumping Verizon due to their nerfed hardware until they just announced their support of Google's Android project. Dangit! Now I have to wait and see how that plays out.

you should get a blackberry pearl. Amazing phone, right size and can surf the web using opera mini. Once you get over the keyboard its fine. Reception is amazing, better then my moto e815. If your stuck on the big red then get the pearl..

Verizon locks down their network very well. You may not be able to sync to your computer unless you pay more $$ and go through verizon. I personally would avoid them at any cost.

When I had a Treo 600 I could sync to my Mac with no problem using just a the limited data plan and a $20 voice plan; for that matter, I can sync the company BlackBerry to my Mac now with a usb cable, though who knows the intricacies of that payment plan. For many of us, Verizon is just a much more attractive system for reasons like coverage and call quality than ATT.

I still love my LG VX8300. I only use it for music and phone, but it has a great design and just feels good to hold and use. In this class of phone, its the best I've seen. But some of my good feeling about this phone probably has to do with the exceptional reliability of Verizon. (Not a sales pitch.)

Treo 700wx is far from stable. Palm's had trouble with the 700w, wx, and p generation of phones. If you go for a Treo, avoid these models or make sure you pay for insurance, should your provider offer it.

I will agree these phones do much more then the Iphone, and gives you more options for customizing how you use it. The iphone is really stripped down, and doesn't do anything particularly well, accept for email setup. Everything you would do on an iphone takes 2-4 steps longer then on other PDA's.
