I have two of these:

http://twelvesouth.com/products/hoverbar/

Build quality is great - as with other TwelveSouth products. The part you snap your iPad into is the slimmest and best looking implementation out there in my opinion.

Plus, like me, you'll find a ton of different uses for it.

• I've attached it to my bed frame to have it hover my iPad a few inches off of the bed (so I can use it, without having to hold it up).

• I've put it in my car. Attached it under the passenger seat and positioned my iPad above the center console.

• I've had it in my bathroom attached near the toilet before - great entertainment a couple times a day.

• I have one attached to my Thunderbolt display (as it shows on their site, it's main use)

Long story short, the clamping mechanism they use is rock-solid, and allows you to put this thing just about anywhere. And the iPad can be fully rotated 360 degrees due to the ball-joint at the end of the arm - something that I find imperative in a mount for the iPad from experience.

These cases would really be the best for bed

Hi,
I'm new to the site. I bought my first Apple product, a new iPad (3), a few months ago and I can't imagine life without it! My one issue is that I have developed iPad muscles from holding the iPad while reading in bed. I've read some threads but the suggestions don't seem like they would work very well for reading while lying down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Alex

For sure the best case/stand for bed is either the Case Genius or Case Prodigy
my fav is the Case Prodigy because it uses a magnetic stand and is very stable.

All of the above, except the bathroom! And, other uses, such as in kitchen, outdoor tables. It is great for reading in bed because can be perfectly angled and the iPad can't fall or be rolled on. Love it in my car, hovers between front seats, great for GPS and when you want to pull over and answer a message or email.
I have a few other stands but hover bar is the most secure and flexible in all the ways it can be used.

I got my mom one of these for mother's day and she seems to be pretty happy with it.

I have this one by DreSuit. It's a really nice bamboo stand and works nicely

Have you heard of the Breffo Spiderpodium? It's a pretty neat stand. I have had mine for several years now and I have found that the best thing about it is 1) the multi viewing angles due to its flexability and 2) I have changed tablet within this time and have not needed to buy a new stand for my new iPad mini as it works with almost every tablet device!

Hope this helps in some way!

Interesting to see this old thread as I actually own the last two suggestions - the PadPillow and the Coolermaster. The PadPillow works great in bed, the Coolermaster works well on a hard surface (table, etc.). Can't really see using the latter in a bed.
