If you look under "clearance" you'll see discounted 2.4 macbook pro's. This way you avoid a refurbished serial. I just snagged one with a corp discount (equivalent to the sales tax) for $1,747.00. I also bought 4gigs of ram and a HITACHI 200GB (16MB of cache) 7200 RPM Hard Drive to upgrade with.

it's not a good deal.. you're paying $1699 for an SR MBP,and you can get the penryn for $1799 with an educational discount.

got what i wanted

i checked early this morning and snagged a refurb 17" 2.4ghz, 7200rpm, hi-res screen MBP for $2350...

i waited too long... i'm giving myslef 4 hours to decide..
my condition for waiting for the new MBP was a full Hardware overhaul.. but since only the innards were updated.. i'll just save my money.

i was actually in the store earlier.. about to buy the macbook mid range.. and then i saw the LED screen of the MBA... that got my attention... and held me back.

Agreed.. the LED screen on the Air looks STUNNING compared to the macbook.... which looks very meh

Yea... I can see that now. Jeez. Time to cancel the order....

as long as you don't open the box, there's ll be no restocking fee. and as for the educational discount, here in the US, they're not going to look for any proof of enrollment or anything, just know which unversity is near your area bec you have to pick one on the drop down menu..
as for me, since i work for the state university, i'm entitled to the educational; discount but ended up buying the refurb

I was able to cancel it. I'll buy the low end to satisfy me until the full refresh in June or September. Thanks for the info.
