I've been using PrivateInternetAccess for 2 years, and am happy with it. Speeds are good, and there are lots of servers. I used to use Witopia, but PIA was cheaper for me.

VPN only or proxy ? VPN as a cost of sacrificing speed due to encryption through tunnel.

Unblock-us is good. Their based in Canada that's what i use. FYI, I also heard there is DNS leak with PIA, based on TorrentFreak,, not sure if that's true, since they use their own back-end dns server, so your not connecting directly to there dns server... Your connecting only to a forwarder which forwards queries to their actually dns server they run.

If you want to use OpenVPN then try iVPN for P2P, great speeds and does multi hop . Or Tunnelbear is a great service that has its own software and is fast but does not allow P2P.

ZenMate works fine for me with the Chrome browser plugin on the desktop machine. Netflix on my Mac is no problem plus Netflix also works fine on iOS.
However Hulu works fine on the Mac but seems not to work on the iOS devices. Anyone getting the same error message?
Looks like we're having trouble completing this action right now. Please try again later. (16)

Vypr is garbage and logs your IP address. It's not really anonymous. By far, my favorite has been BTGuard, which is Bit Torrent's VPN service. I love it, if you connect to it through network settings rather than their configuration program, and it logs nothing about you or your usage except your username.
This is correct. There is zero safety/privacy with vypervpn. It's a product developed solely for the purpose of charging 30/month for Giganews 'premium' Usenet plan. Then they started hawking it on its own.

If you opt for Smart DNS, then OverPlay is a decent choice ($4.95), I used them for 6 months or so. They also have VPN.
Another option is CactusVPN who also offer both VPN and Smart DNS and probably works out a bit cheaper. I've now using Cactus as they're a bit cheaper with the VPN bundle. Definitely recommend looking at combo VPN+smart DNS - some providers for comparison.

Any recomendations out there for a VPN? Looking to free myself of the MLB blackout restrictions. Suggestions?

Was looking at Unblockus ... anything I should watch out for?

I saw an ad for Anonymizer but I haven't seen very good reviews about them.

Thoughts???

Unblock-Us is a Smart DNS service, which is similar to VPN in the context of IP redirection, but it doesn't encrypt traffic.
For your specific purpose smart DNS will probably do the trick. I've been using HideIpVPN for Netflix. Some more options here: https://www.bestvpnz.com/best-smart-dns-proxy-services/

Been using https://ironsocket.com and I do not agree with what you said. Based from experiences, I say IronSocket is a good vpn when it comes to personal matter, business, travel, unblock sites such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, BBC iPlayer, etc... and others... If y'all have time, please do check on them, check on their site and it surprise yourself. Cheers....

I was using unblock us then switched to unotelly. Currently using tvunblock.com. It's completely free and works just as good as paid services I've been using. The only catch is you have to visit the website once a month to keep your IP address active.

I have Private Internet Access and am trying to bypass the location check of the MLB app. I don't want to route all traffic from my Apple TV over the VPN, just whatever routes it takes to get past the blackout portion of the check. Is there a specific host that it uses to check your location? If so, I can use iptables to route traffic to that specific host over the VPN. Any ideas?

Location is only an issue on iPads, tablets, phones. Devices that uses location services, as far as know cannot be bypassed. Just about any one of the services listed above will work on an Apple TV. I've used with success unblockus and unlocator.

Hi,
Mac is the most reliable OS, but still when we are online spammers, hackers and cyber criminals are always hunting for their prey especially those marketers, to avoid such issue you must use a secure VPN that is also easy on your pocket. I personally use VPN for over a year now and found it very useful, secure and easy within my budget.

PrivateInternetAccess is widely recommended as a VPN. However, for location-based restrictions where data privacy is not a concern, such as streaming MLB.tv, I believe a smartDNS solution is better.

No point in sending the MLB.tv streaming data halfway around the world and using processing power to encrypt and decrypt it. Those just decrease speed. smartDNS makes it appear to the server like you're somewhere else, but still maintains a direct connection, thereby maintaining regular internet speed.

Unotelly sells both a smartDNS and VPN services packaged together, and they specifically advertise as supporting MLB.tv unblocking. This way, you can use VPN where you need data security, and use smartDNS where there is a location restriction.

Full disclaimer: I'm not actually a customer of either service, I learned this information from lots of research in this area.

Getfix is another one, but their VPN doesn't work with Internet Connection Sharing on Mac.

I use expressvpn with vuze and have not experience any speed sacrifice, my downloads are same speed with and without expvpn. They also have an iOS app which I have not used.
