no, I don’t hate my iPhone X or any of my other things. So flame is not needed.

Making some MAJOR financial changes in my life. Not going to go into the details, long story short, I got all of these new toys that I don’t necessarily need or even use to it’s full capabilities , I can survive just fine with something cheaper. I plan on selling my iPhone X, Apple Watch series 3, iPad (2017) and my air pods.

Probably going to rock an iPhone SE or go with an LG G6, haven’t decided yet, that’s besides the point .

All of these items excluding the air pods are under installments with AT&T. I know I’ll be due the full amounts of these devices when I cancel the lines and sell them. Anyone know what I should list the items for?

iPhone X 256 GB silver (AT&T)
Apple Watch series 3 stainless steel (at&t)
iPad (2017) with cellular capabilities
Air Pods

All are in great condition because I take care of my things .

I would keep the airpods honestly, they are useful and work well with Android devices. But iPad 2017? 5/600, iPhone X? 800-900 depending upon storage

The aw? 2-300 probably if you want an actual sale. Ceramic and SS have horrible and I mean horrible resell value.

Personally, your AirPods won't be worth very much if they are used. I would recommend Swappa as well.

Since there's no Kelly Blue Book for Apple gadgets, the most reliable source for fair market pricing would be eBay or Craigslist. After all, those the prices that others are offering their devices for.

If you price too high, few people will buy, if you price too low, you will leave money on the table.

Of course, there's the time/hassle in dealing with private party sales when you use eBay or Craigslist. There are third-party services that will buy back used gadgets but will reimburse you at an amount lower than what you might get from a private party sale.

Gazelle is one company that I've used who will give cash for used iPhones. If you are willing to leave some money on the table for a quick and easy transaction, this is one way to go.

Another option is Amazon.com. They tend to offer a little more than Gazelle, but offer it in store credit (a gift card), not cash back. These days, I tend to sell my used iDevices to Amazon since I know I am eventually going to spend the credit there anyhow.

For the devices that are tied to a payment plan on AT&T I'd recommend selling locally through Facebook or Craigslist and meeting the buyer at an AT&T store. Then you could use the money from the sale towards paying off the device and the person who's buying it from you can be assured that it's definitely paid off. I think if you're upfront with the buyer they wouldn't have any issues with doing this.

As others have said, I'd recommend keeping the AirPods, they'll still work fine if you choose to move to an Android phone and they're probably of less value than your other items.

Before you decide on an SE or LG G6, check out the iPhone 6s as you can find some good deals on it. For example, Best Buy has it for $12.45 per month for Verizon or $9.99 per month for AT&T. You'd need to use a line that's eligible for an upgrade, but after 15 days you can pay it off completely, so it would total $300+taxes+activation fee which isn't bad for a new iPhone. But it's also hard to compete with the $150 AT&T prepaid SE that apparently works fine on AT&T postpaid.

If you price it right on Swappa, you will sell it fast. Just to throw this out there, have you thought of paying the balance off with a credit card that you may have points on, sell the device, then pay off the balance and enjoy the points you earned?

Other than that, Craigslist may be your best bet, as someone else mentioned, you can meet them at AT&T and confirm all is good, also weeds out the tirekickers and time wasters. Same goes for the iPad.

Good luck with the goal you are looking to accomplish, I hope what you are looking to do works out how you want it to.

Be advised that even on eBay If the buyer finds out it's not paid off they can/will sick eBay on you.

To be honest, I would not even recommend eBay due all the fraud that is on there, especially given with Apple devices. There are so many risks associated, not to mention the fees with PayPal and eBay. I personally would rather sell in person to have the cash in hand.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think Facebook or Craigslist will be the best bet. Cheers

Totally agree. Very risky...especially if you still have contracts on them.

Back in 2001, I bought a brand new X5 - big mistake. I should have learned my lesson from a prior purchase of a brand new 325i which was always at the shop for repairs. A lesson I learned from that X5 purchase is to distinguish needs and wants. I've never wasted money on things since.

Just to broaden the discussion a little . . .

I’m from the UK. For years I used to sell my old Apple products on eBay, but I’ve pretty much given up on that now. For two reasons, first the eBay and PayPal fees. Second the risk of being screwed over by the buyer, especially from a thing we have in the UK (maybe other countries have it) called a “chargeback”. I don’t trust the eBay/PayPal dispute resolution systems.

That being said, I have had recent success selling on eBay via fixed price auctions. You get offers very quickly and you soon get a sense of the value of your item in an open market. Often, bidders offer to complete the transaction outside of eBay. Obviously I would never do that, obviously. But if they pay via direct bank transfer and you sweeten the deal by lowering the price a little, everyone’s a winner. Except eBay. Which is why I would obviously never do it, obviously.

My most recent sales have been to big companies that buy tech. I recently sold my iPhone to MusicMagpie and my Apple Watch to Mazuma Mobile. It’s just so easy. You get a pretty good price, and fast payments. Both paid exactly what they said they would and when they said they’d pay it.

You have to a be a little careful. I had a lot of drama last year when I tried an outfit called WeBuyAnyPhone.com I had to threaten the company with bankruptcy (which I had the legal right to do) before I got payment. They’ve now been removed from TrustPilot for having too many fake reviews.

GameStop is a good place to sell phones and tablets. I received $450 for a Samsung S8. You get cash on the spot. You can check the trade in value on their website.
They don’t inquire about the phone being paid off or on installments.

Sent 3 items to Gazelle in one box. They increased my price on two and kept the same price on the third. I guess I was to hard on myself when rating the condition of the two. They didn’t have to increase. I would never have known.

I wouldn't sell the airpods if I were you. They're used and you probably will not get much money for them.

Like others have mentioned, just keep the AirPods because they probably won't net you too much since they are used.

If you can, pay off all of the devices and list them on Swappa. If you're not able to pay the devices off, then Facebook/eBay/Craigslist might be your best bet.
