so, have any of you guys find a perfect YouTube solution yet?

The webpage only supports up to 720p, not even 1080p,
The YouTube app is not optimized, and will probably not take advantege of pip ever
Protube sounds cool, but the interface... Ahhhh not my thing. And it lacks "for you" suggestions, all you can do is search/watch subscriptions.
Others YouTube apps, Ahh they are even worse.

Am I missing anything worth a try? Why is it so hard to find a perfect YouTube solution on such a perfect device for watching videos?

I have yet to find a good solution myself. It's annoying my brains out how google is sabotaging apple by not optimizing that app for the Ipp. Still no PiP?! Seriously??

They already said they will never implement PIP, you didn't get the memo? They want more $ with ads

They could run ads and have PiP. In fact, if you go to the website and ask for desktop you get PiP. Ads play just fine.

No they want you to stay in the app and never leave or be distracted. They said no to PIP

They won't do PIP because of YouTube red. One feature of red is background playing, if you can Do PIP, everyone gets background playing for free..

Looks like our best bet is protueb, just hope they can spend sometime on their interface.... It's soooooooo terrible

Having to deal with subpar apps for basic things like watching youtube is why I sold my iPad and stick to OS X for everything. Tablets are worthless

Or you can use the site like you do on OS X. Seriously, tablets are not worthless. The site works perfectly.

The website is limited to 720p, again, supbar experience. Just use an 11" MBA or 12" rMBP

And the picture still looks great. If I cried about resolution when it comes to my iPad Pro, I'd watch nothing. Nothing comes in native resolution for me. Once again, the site works.

And the 11" MBA has a **** screen and is basically a 720 screen. So that one makes no sense.

That sucks though. I watch youtube videos at 1080 and 4K on mac

How does it suck? The video still looks amazing. But, yes, the rMB is a better YT machine. It also costs more for the base model and isn't as good for some other things.

I hate this. I uninstalled the app on my devices a few years ago. I have reinstalled a few times since then to see if its any better, but its really not. What this means for me is I avoid youtube most of the time. Its not like I need to watch whats on there, so most of the time I just do without. I hope others have done the same.

You can get a used rMB for around 900$ putting it at just about 100$ more than the IPP and way more functional and worth your dollar. Returned my IPP after 2 weeks and got myself a rMB. Wont look back.

Why doesn't the web support all the resolutions?

Devs need to stop gimping mobile. There shouldn't even be separate sites for mobile. Just make them scale for everything and have all the features of desktop.

The rMB may be a better use for your money, but the IPP is better for my use case. Also, used vs new is a funny thing.

Not if you shop smart. Buy in like new condition on ebay and check the device out in person for craigslist ads. Youd be surprised.

Sorry for the ignorance guys but I have a few doubts:

- Did YouTube really say they will never support PIP? That would really really suck is one of the features I miss the most on my iPad Pro.
- I've seen many of you saying you can just access youtube on the browser. How can I do that, whenever I try to access the site it tells me to go to the app levaing me no option, so how can I access the site? Is it possible in Safari?
- Which would you say is the best app for using youtube then?

Thanks!

1. I haven't see it elsewhere yet, but that makes sense because of YouTube red
2. Delete the app then you can use the website
3. So far, protube, with iPad pro optimization and pip

Also, make sure you request desktop via YT and their menu if you want PiP. For whatever reason, it didn't show up for me otherwise.

Thanks for the answers, I'll be deleting the app then.

Sorry I now tried it, and it tells me I can't watch a video Full Screen. Is that accurate?

Thanks again

I have just downloaded Protube even though I was a little hessitant to pay for a Youtube client app, but so far after a few hours of use I've found it amazing, pretty good UI, and I finally have PIP. Really happy with the purchase.
I have a few doubts:
- What limitations does this app have? I've haven't found any yet
- Will youtube continue to allow this app to work, I started thinking that now that they are realising YouTube Red maybe they would want do delete apps with extra features?

Thanks

1. The UI. Good for you if you like it. But it doesn't show full thumbnail,
And it does not have 'recommend' section. All you can see is popular and subscriptions/playlists/search
2. I don't think Google will cut it, it has been there for years...... Not sure though

I have a question about Protube and this seems to be the place to ask. Can I turn on ads if I want to? Or are they just off always?
