I most likely will be using it eventually. I run multiple VMs for work and personal projects and am going to start doing video editing and graphic design on the side.

I started going back to school so I was able to get education discount which dropped the price a few hundred dollars. Although I am BestBuy Elite Plus member so the extra $100 is nice.

Edit: just checked and no best buys within a 20+ mile radius from me have any stock anyways.

Ok, that makes a little more sense. I would imagine the requirement to run 8K video would be minimal and only for a small niche of people?

Aside from bragging rights of course.

I’ve been watching the 24 hour fifth avenue Apple store in nyc to see if they start selling late tonight...

I grabbed a base model from BB this morning as well. They priced matched the normal discount I get from Apple but needed a Manager override. $2159 out the door, no sales tax..

Still setting it up but yes the KB is night and day better.... Also happy about the esc key making a comeback..

Happy camper right now...

I was told they intentionally don’t advertise that they’re in stores initially because they don’t have much stock. But stores should have received them today.

I swung by my store at 12 and no luck. They told me they get stock on the 18th

Is the slightly heavier/bigger size noticeable compared to the 15"?

What specs did you get? Have you tried it yet? I'm curious about the performance of the redesigned cooling. Any idea to share?

As someone with a 2019 15” all I want to know is if the thermals really are better this time... My base 15” gets sooooo hot! Even just watching YouTube. It can be uncomfortable at times.

Any of you 16” owners experience heat that makes the bottom too uncomfortable to have on your lap?

I got the base 1TB.

Not being able to try out the keyboard first made me nervous, but it’s so much nicer..

I’m trying to play an 8k video on YouTube in full screen. It’s very choppy and the laptop is getting warm, but it says the temperature is around 40s.

Two 4k videos plays no problem. Same temperature. Fan speed around 1400 RPMs



Three 4k videos is choppy again, but still same fan and temp.
 
These Laptops are beautiful. I just picked up a 2019 MacBook Pro at best buy last week - when they released their black friday flyer and I got it for $1099.00

I am In LOVE with this thing.

but I am curious on this 16 inch variant. I mean they did announce / release it out of no where.

is the Keyboard really that big of a difference ?. I love the keyboard my 13 inch has.

I am tempted to go play around with it but im scared ill return this one for the 16 inch lol.
 
If you have any experience with the 2018 / 2019 (15”) models, how does the temp compare? My 2019 15” gets so hot that the bottom becomes uncomfortable to touch. Once it reaches those temps, the laptop becomes noticeably slower...

Really hoping those new fans and the larger heat sync are as good as apple says

I was about to buy a 2015 MBP because of the keyboard, and if the 16” had a butterfly keyboard I wouldn’t have considered it.

No regrets with this keyboard though.
