Correct me if I am wrong, but if Apple themselves arent gonna have the white one's on launch day its safe to assume BB definitely will not. Verbal agreement or not LOL

I'll show you. [shakes fist in the air] I'll show you ALL.

Well, to be fair, I'm #1 in line at my local Best Buy for a white iPhone, too. So really, we're on the same side.

I just don't put as much trust in a verbal agreement vs. what the paperwork (and Best Buy's own website) actually promise.

There are verbal agreements. Verbal agreements are valid.

No, they aren't. Not when they have a WRITTEN policy for pre-orders that clearly states that it supersedes any other commitments made, either written or verbally.

While I hope you get what you want, there is no guarantee made to you yesterday that will help your case.

As many have already stated in this thread, it was widely known yesterday and leaked right before pre-order that Apple was not offering white for launch. And why in the hell would anyone really believe a random sales associate over Apple themselves? But you are one of those types that doesn't take no for an answer, it seems. So you thought you'd be clever and try to lock Best Buy into something that you knew wasn't going to happen. And now you want to hold them accountable.

I work in the service industry, and I have to deal with your types on a daily basis. You think you're entitled to everything you want. And you'll throw a tantrum until you get something that makes you "right." But the fact is that you knew the likelihood of you getting a White iPhone was slim, but decided you wanted to con these nice people into something they have no control over. And even though they are Best Buy employees, they are people just trying to do their jobs. You should be ashamed.

I don't think it's BB that's a problem. It's that Apple stated in their keynote that the iPhone 4 is out June 24th and available in 2 colors. Black. White.

I don't know wtf you're pissed at BB for thinking, like the rest of the world, that they'd have both colors come in.

I'm pretty freakin sure the managers and associates aren't on forums all day refreshing the page to see if the white iPhone is out.

Honestly what makes you think that you'll be able to get the iPhone at best buy if apple doesn't even have it for sale. You are setting yourself up to be disappointed so just go in and insist on a definite answer

Without a solid date, what kind of idiot would place an pre-order?

Didn't you? It seems odd to me that people are placing orders for phones that aren't even going to be available. Sure, Best Buy shouldn't be participating in this, but if you were fully aware of the white iPhone situation, it was kind of a dumb move on your part too :(

Its going to be a sh**ty day for 2 people. You, who from the sound of it will be throwing a toddlers fit, and the manager who has to tell you and 50 other spoiled babies politely that your sh*t out of luck.

I placed my reservation or pre-order for white iphone 16GB around 11 am yesterday. It went without a problem. Now, I read the websites and it says bestbuy will not be getting them on launch day either. Bestbuy is willing to fulfill the pre-orders, but does not know when they will get them. What is wrong with these guys? Without a solid date, what kind of idiot would place an pre-order?
According to leaked memo, AT&T stated that it will be late summer for iphone white availability. This is most likely be Late JULY!?

Bestbuy just screwed up so bad. I am the who is going to pay the price.

Best Buy didn't promise a specific date for any preorder. All you're doing is reserving a phone. If you saw that Apple wasn't offering the white iPhone at launch, it's your own fault for assuming Best Buy would magically have them in stock next week. I've noticed lots of folks making the same mistake thinking that just because Best Buy is offering to reserve a white one, that it must mean they'll be available on launch day.

Why shouldn't BB participate? They're only guaranteeing you a phone, not a specific date when you'll have it. When I placed my order, I made it a point to ask the salesperson if this means I will get the phone on launch day. She said "you PROBABLY will but we cannot guarantee it." So I was very clear that I was at that point guaranteeing a phone, not a date. I was fine with that. People need to ask questions instead of assuming.

THe agreement is between myself and Best Buy. I can and WILL hold them responsible. If I make a stink, I'll probably get some kind of nominal compensation.

seriously? It's people like you who are the *******s of this world  Creating a scene over not getting a freaking phone??? I mean seriously man???

Could you honestly be more of a douche about this situation? It's not BB's fault. Apple never mentioned it to anyone until the middle of Pre-order day...

And how do you expect to get a white iPhone if there won't be any shipped to the store? Stomp around, scream and yell until you get your way?

BB shouldn't participate...because you're not getting a white iPhone on launch day! It's just annoying to read all these sob stories from people about the white iPhone they pre-ordered, when not even Apple will have them.

The Best Buy employees are representatives of the company. They have assured me three times that I will get a white on launch day. I am choosing to take them at their word. If i do NOT get the phone, well. Let's just say that I will make my local store very unhappy. It was a VERBAL GUARANTEE.

i used to work at best buy....no one there knows or cares what they are talking about. they give verbal guarantees all the time to get your business...dosnt mean they will hold anything to that guarantee. how can they guarantee you a white phone when apple isnt even going to preorder them??

I'm standing in BB on an iPad and the mobile manager guaranteed that they would have the black iPhone on the 24th. For all that pre ordered the white phone, you pre order automatically is switched to a black.

This BB has done 20 pre orderers and said they would be opening at the normal 10am they always do.

I will sell you my White iPhone 3GS 32 GB if it will make you feel better, I can also load iOS4 on the 21st if you would like :D

Hey I was just trying to cheer the guy up and get him his White iPhone

It's not my fault that bestbuy doesn't give me white iphone at launch. They should have told customers to go for black instead.

They didn't know of the issues at that point. As soon as they were notified, they told people exactly that.

Just did a "pre-order" gift card at Best Buy...I know they are not available and yes they offer white ones...

Last year I had a good experience walking in to my local BB at lunch for 3GS launch day and getting both a black and a white in a very easy process...

I did a preorder at BB today also.
They told me Im number 30 in line. They were not 100% if they will get that many on day 1 but they will fullfill preorders first and then first come first serve.
So it might be a week or so longer I would guess.

You should read up on what the deal is with the white iPhones. None are being shipped or sold on launch day. Not even Best Buy. So if you ordered one, prepare yourself to get either a black one instead, a refund or to wait it out. It's NOT Best Buy's fault they won't have them. They were not notified quickly to remove the option. Again, don't bank on a white iPhone. Prepare to be disappointed if you think you're getting one.

The last thing you do is take an employee's word over everything else you have heard online. No white iPhones at launch. Prepare yourself now.

It's ok. It's just a phone. You WILL survive!
