I have the IS on my PSP, had the BSE on my iPhone 2G, and currently use the BodyGuardz for my iPhone 2G.

IS and BSE are EXTREMELY similar in feel and are pretty tacky. The BSE would make my iPhone stick to tables and also picked up lint pretty fast.

I switched to the BG because it is less tacky than the other 2 and feels smoother. The only bad part is that I can't lay the phone on my arm rest without it sliding around while I'm driving anymore. :)

Overall, I'd recommend the BodyGuardz.

iLounge.com reviews all 3 and the BG came out on top.

Overall, depending on the new BSE, I'd go with the BSE. How their site 'looks' is a ****** argument, and I'm a professional web designer. If people love their product, the website shouldn't be the dealbreaker.

Just finished the new BSE. I had it on my 2G also. This one is as good all but one little thing...........the back is two pieces (top half and bottom half). Ya I dont know why either. Other than that it's same quality of material and cut.

Go with the BSE, you'll love it.
+1

I also agree with the above post about BSE feeling tacky. But that's why I like it. Less slipping around and dropping.

According to the pics in this thread Bodyguardz are the way to go. Way less of an "orange peel" look that the others.

I've used bse for years and tried invisible shield as well. I'll take bse any day as they look the same, but bse is cheaper.

I have used both BSE and IS. BSE on my 2G iPhone, and an IS on my new 3G iPhone. I actually JUST finished installing a BSE on my sister's new 2G, and I put the IS on my new 3G yesterday.

BSE:
- Super cheap & modestly fast shipping (ships in a standard business-size envelope)
- Die-cut is very precise. Quality product
- Same exact material as the IS.
- Took me about 45 minutes to apply. Still waiting for one of the corners to dry a bit... it's being a pain :)
- >24 hr email only customer service

IS:
- Comes with a squeegie and applicator spray. To be honest, I used my IS squeegie to apply the BSE.
- Die-cut is horribly sloppy. They didn't even remove the camera hole piece or the sim card tray opening... i had to remove those bits myself and slightly stretched my skin (especially around the home button)
- IS covers MORE of the back than the 2G BSE. I don't know what the BSE 3G looks like.
- Doesn't cover the whole front, but it covers what's important
- Lifetime warranty. I went through 3 BSE's (over $25 worth) with my old 2G iPhone... Genius Bar didn't realize I had a faulty SIM :)
- Phone/email support. Friendly and somewhat knowledgeable staff.
- Took about an hour to install. I screwed up a corner or two.

Go with the BSE, you'll love it. I bought an IS solely because they had a preorder first, and I was under the impression that it'd arrive before launch day. They effed that up, and as it turns out some people got their BSE sooner than I got my IS via 2-day air. I will not be buying from ZAGG again.

Post pics of the BSE on the iphone 3g.....

we use 3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape at work (paint and body) for rock guards on various trucks and cars that come with this from the factory. i'm sure that all the products you guys are referring to are the same product and probably all made by 3M™.

i've been looking at all three and decided that i would just make my own today. i spent about twenty minutes cutting it out and about 5 minutes applying it. i do a lot of stripes and decals on vehicles so i kind of have a lot of practice with it.

it looks about the same as all the pictures i've seen posted. it wasn't die cut so i had to make my own holes for the ear and home button. but all in all i think it came out pretty good. no finger prints, no air bubbles, and no rolled corners.

anyway...

if your like me and have that do it yourself attitude, you can pick up a roll from 3M™ for anywhere between $30 and $80 and have enough to do all of your electronics.

my wife saw mine and now i have to do hers tomorrow.

Anywhere? I have never seen rolls of this stuff, where do you find it?

The new BSE covers pretty much every nook and crany of the back, they really did a great job this time around. Wasn't thrilled that it comes in 2 sections, but the application is much easier because of that. However you do get a small seam in the middle as a result, but hardly a deal breaker. I'll post pics later.

you can look online, but if you know where an automotive paint distributer is around you, you can usually get it there. most paint supply houses carry everything 3M makes or can get it.

small applications with the stuff is easy. imagine doing the entire front of an RV- pain in the ass.

if anyone decides to use it, i recommend cutting an oversized piece first and putting it under a heavy book or something for a day; otherwise, it retains it's rolled shape and is harder to cut and apply.

also the spray we use to apply the film is a full spray bottle of water with 2 drops max of dishwashing liquid. any more than that and it will take forever to set up and dry.

does anyone have review of the three products together? or have experience with all three? More pics?

I just ordered my BSE today for my 3G. If nothing is up by the time I recieve/install, then i'll post pics and my thoughts on it, but so far i've heard generally favorable reviews. The ZAGG piece of crap is not worth the cash.

To address the 2-piece back, BSE's website states that it's for ease of installation, as you can hold the phone while you alight the first part, and then the same for the second part. I bought both the 1 and 2-piece backs for a total of $16, and that also includes the screen. So IMO a better deal overall.

I've had experience of all 3:

BSE and IS are the same material, but BSE is cheaper and much better cut, so forget IS straight away.

Difference between BSE and BGZ is that BSE skin looks a bit more orange-peely and feels more tacky/rubbery than the BGZ. For the screen I be more inclined to go for the BGZ as it is truer to the "feel" of the naked screen, but the BSE might be a better choice for the back as the phone feels less likely to slip out of your hand. I guess that's where personal preference comes in.

Also worth mentioning is that the BSE back comes in two pieces, top and bottom, which I guess is meant to better fit the curve of the rear. However, once dried the "join" is barely visible.

So I'd say: Forget IS, BGZ for the front and either BSE or BGZ for the back depending on whether you want a smoother or tactile back.

Oh yes, also should say that with BGZ you get 2 complete skins, so if you mess one up you've got a second chance, and you also get a lifetime guarantee that you don't get with the BSE. You pay the premium price for this though (as well as expensive shipping compared to BSE if you're not in the US).

Hope that helps.
