First, my husband wanted iT tested in iOS 5.

Second, it's really no ones business but his and mine.

Third, you shouldn't be judging. Didn't your mother teach you the rule of "if you can't say something nice"?

Agreed. I don't know why some people get on such a high horse about non-devs installing betas. As long as people research what they're doing and don't just read one article and install the beta without even checking what you're supposed to do... and as long as ppl don't complain when something goes wrong, then why should anyone care? I really doubt that everyone with a dev account has that account, and downloads betas, ONLY to test apps. Come on, give me a break. I'm sure many do it in part, and for some the only reason, is because they want to preview the software. Arent we all here because we're tech junkies?

I love my iphone 4. I started with the 3G and then went to the 4, and I was sooo psyched to get it. I tried jailbreaking but it wasn't for me. But a beta of a new OS, with lots of new features to play with - I want to try it. I totally accept that it could, worst case scenario, kill my phone. I"m fine with that risk. I researched how to install the beta, and how to roll back from one. So... why is it anyone's business if I want to try IOS5 early?

Btw, Apple clearly doesn't exactly put non-dev beta users high on their hitlist, or they'd make the process much harder, and not give devs 100 udid slots, or they'd make the people who want the slots jump through some kind of hoops. That they don't shows they don't really mind. I mean the more people testing, the better, no?

I think some people just want to feel like they're on another tier - like only certain people can use the beta, and the rest of us plebs aren't allowed. Which is, quite frankly, kind of sad.

exactly. funnily enough i see the same people complaining about non-devs in nearly every beta thread that pops up, it's like they have nothing better to do! I'm a non-dev and i put the beta on, but made sure i knew what i was getting into. i will discuss stuff in threads to help or just discuss, but i know that it's a beta and it won't be perfect so i don't create a new thread for any bug i see.

The problem is the people that don't research before putting beta software on and then the people moaning about non-devs just aggravate the situation as the don't have anything better to do or anything of substance to contribute.
