Except that many people will probably be using the app switcher more than the home screen. At least, that's been my experience with the betas.

Mine too, but it still makes more sense to keep it in line with everything else.

So I hear we're able to sync Google Notebook with iPhone now?

If I save some notes there and make my calendar with Google Calendar, is it possible to use both on the iPhone now?

I thought Google Notebook was discontinued a few years ago. I stopped using it for that reason.

Can someone try something? Open up a couple apps so you have 3+ on your multitasking bar. Hold your finger on one as to close it down...do you have to hold on each one to close it still? Or can you hold once, then keep hitting the red minus?

Gah this drives me crazy. People who use iPhones for both work and personal email need this option, and it would be sooo easy to do.

Thanks for checking though.

Quick question, why don't you request this feature on Apple's Request Site? It sounds like you have a genuine need for it and it doesn't sound like it would be terribly difficult to implement, as you noted.

You can hold it once and then hit all the red minusses.

it would appear so, the imap option gives you both notes and calendars to sync, i currently have calendar and mail syncing via exchange and notes via imap. I found however it duplicated my notes after setting up google imap

Are you syncing notes on the Exchange server via IMAP?

For the note sync it has to be over IMAP and it doesn't sync with Google Notebook, but the emails in Gmail that are labeled as "notes". I have no idea why it is like this. So this means that it is possible to edit the notes from the iphone, but not in your gmail. The sync is really fast. If your create a note on the iphone it takes less than a second to see it in your gmail.
I have my mail and calendar synced with exchange and the notes synced with IMAP.

Does anyone know what the little pluses next to prices in the app store?

I can't find any consistency for them. Some I have installed, some I don't. Some I've downloaded once before, some I haven't. Some are free, some aren't.

Any ideas? I haven't seen this around anywhere else...

I wonder if this indicates a larger screen size for the new phone?

What if I edit my Google Calendar on the iPhone, will it show the change in Google Calendar on my PC?

Birthday cal. Anyone???

YES! Finally.... however, I don't use the default birthday calendar because I like to have alerts/reminders...

Another much needed feature that is now in 4.0 is MobileMe Alias support! The only downside is you can not set the alias to be the default sending account and also there is no way to enter your name.
For example, if I send an email from my alias, it shows on the other end as "myemail@mac.com" rather than "John Doe".

Hopefully those 2 things will be fixed before GM...

Interesting, I've had all 4 beta's on my iPhone 3GS, and never noticed the places feature.. Weird.

Thanks for the follow up, and add on.

Have not had a chance to install it yet, was wondering if it made this beta. They had announced the calendar API was opened up for devs, so now we will finally see over the air / Cloud syncing with cal's. No more of this WIFI only syncing garbage.

Yes, which is why people keep using the word "sync." ;)

BTW, if you sync your Google calendars using CalDAV rather than Exchange, it will preserve the color coding (set in iCal or Gmail) on your iPhone. I couldn't stand using the Exchange method because it assigned random colors to all of my calendars; I've got about ten calendars in my Google Apps account and they're all color-coded in a very logical way. Using CalDAV to sync keeps the colors intact so they display correctly.

Oh, that's cool.
I already got Google Sync on my Blackberry Bold and here the online calendar don't update. That's why I asked. =)

How to set up CalDAV?

sorry, are you talking about syncing google calendars on the iphone? i thought when you sync it only puts your default calendar, not all of them?

I'm also waiting for the ability to create and accept iCal invitations.... I believe Steven even promised this a while back.

Some free apps have this + sign next to them and then on the price tag. Anyone know what it means? At first, I thought it meant apps I downloaded before, but that isn't the case with Square.

what is that symbol on your status bar in between bluetooth and battery percentage?
