I can only speak for myself but it's been almost perfect for me so far. And where it's been less than perfect, it was the type of minor issues that are no worse than what you get on iOS 15, which is also not perfect.

And I think that’s probably true for most. But the possibility always exists, for whatever reason, that a significant problem can occur.

Banking apps frequently don’t work, especially early on in the beta process. Kludgy glucose monitoring apps may not work until their not-so-nimble big pharma creators get off their behinds and update the relevant app. Maps and gps may not work due to some beta stuff happening to the gps radio , etc. These are all real examples, by the way.

All of those can be beyond critical. They may even be life threatening or at least huge inconveniences.

The key is knowing what to do before starting on a beta, Developer or public, (hint: archived back up) and then knowing how to revert back to the current publicly released version of iOS if a problem occurs.

That latter part also means having the ability to do so when needed. It doesn’t do you any good to know how to revert if the significant problems crop up while you’re on vacation on another continent and you don’t have your Mac with you.

Bottom line: it does pay to think through how you will be able to fix things if they go south on you.

Well that was a bust - been running 16 for a few days and love it - today had to use google maps for work with apple CarPlay and it was a crapshoot. Used it for 2 years fine and today it struggled to find a standard street address. Means I might have to reset it to 15 for 2 days a week for work.

I had the PB installed on my iPhone 13 this past weekend. Everything worked as usual with no hiccups. I ultimately reverted back to iOS 15, but I didn't experience anything major with PB on my main phone.

you might want to wait to see if Beta 4 is released today. Its not unusual for there to be mapping / GPS issues in these betas, but they do tend to improve with time / more betas. Good likelihood we see Beta 4 today (or, at latest, tomorrow).

i have it on my phone and ipad. no issues on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. first couple days the battery seemed to drain faster but now it seems back to what it was. or maybe i'm just imagining it.

on ipad it seems more buggier and by that i mean stage manager sometimes crashes and generally some animations are a bit stuttery.

compared to the iOS 15 Public Beta then 16 is far more stable. iOS 15 wasn't necessarily bad but a few apps were broken. The apps that were broken on 15 PB are working just fine on 16 PB. That's just me though...you could have apps that I don't and maybe they have issues.

If you can deal with the battery drain, then it's pretty stable. I rolled it back to iOS 15 just because I'm traveling this weekend and might not have the ability to be around a charger for a whole day.

I'll probably take a stab at it ( because I have multiple phones ) once Teams starts working without issues on the PB!

I think this current beta is the most stable beta I've tried since apple started letting the public try beta software. None of my apps have issues with not working or crashing unlike past iOS beta. Battery is kinda bad but its doable right now knowing this is beta software and it'll get better.

Yes for me too, on both iPad 11 Pro & iPhone 12 Pro 👍🏻

Well at least getting back to 15 is so so so painless.

Not always, depending on our particular setups. My iPhone, for example, is used for two lines, with a “regular” SIM & an e-SIM. Reactivating an e-SIM, in my case, requires a 130 km trip to the carrier’s shop to get a QR card. So, a major nuisance, sabotaging all the beta fun.

I do not like the iOS 16 CarPlay Siri solo lower register sound compared to 15's dual higher pitch one,
Agree and what is with here no longer taking the recepient and message at the same time now. I'll say the whole thing, and she'll ask what message I want to send. I just told you!

Downgrading will not remove an esim, it’s tied to the phone itself. I’ve downgraded from 16 to 15 before and the eSims were still there.

This is good to know, thank you. So, just to be sure, if I restore (not downgrade) my iPhone with an e-SIM profile, it should survive this restore process, right?

Personally I had trouble downgrading my iPad Pro 11 (2018) to iPadOS 15 for the first time ever on macOS 12,5. My computer didn't recognize my device even on recovery or DFU modes. I hade to "update" first to 15.6 when my computer recognized my iPad on regular mode (took 8-9 tries to finally show in finder( and then I fully restored via DFU.

Maybe I had a bad install, but for me iPadOS 16 was one of the buggiest beta I've even seen with frequently touch gestures problems (swipes not working resulting with selecting things I don't want etc) bad battery life etc. Now back at 15.6 my iPad is finally back to norma with all its smoothness.

I am using beta 2 on my main iPad, the one I use for my job and everything although I wouldn’t care if it caused me to not be able to do anything for my job, for a couple weeks, at least I would be getting paid to sort it out and not produce anything for the job, it’s employment not a party. It is extremely stable though.
