First of all, sending in a watch for repairs has ALWAYS been the way they do it.

Second, express replacement (they send you a 'new' one then you send them the old one) is done online or by phone. No idea why they don't tell you that in stores.

No that’s not the case , it is every time it comes into any contact with water the screen becomes unresponsive and eventually goes blank . I believe from the time I ship it and it gets to the repair shop it has enough time to dry.
Well, that’s a new twist to your story - contact with water.
So after you got your watch back from the first “repair” you were able to pair it fine and used it until you exposed it to water?
When you pair your watch, do you setup a new or restore from backup?

Express replacement is only available with AC+ and OP has stated they don’t have it

That is completely different from anything you have said so far in this thread! Water not mentioned previously. What did you say to Apple? Did they test contact with water?

Yep, revealing that now I’ve lost all sympathy for OP

It paired fine when I got it back yes and realized shortly after washing my hands it began to act up. I told the senior advisor so the could put it in their notes for the second time I sent it in( I even put a note in the box in regards to getting it wet) . I set it up as new to make sure it wasn’t a bug.

I don’t know it was water, I am just saying it MIGHT be! They ran a whole list of test and said it worked fine, i assume they tested for water.

Must have apple care otherwise their system will not allow it. I have asked to put it on my credit card until I sent back the non working one, couldn’t do it.

Really????? I don’t know what was causing it! This has been all very fluent!
Yes, really. Because you only post today after well over a week that water played a role.
There must be much more in play than hand washing. I shower with my AW every day, and have been for quite a few years and never had a problem.
People who report on issues related to water usually use it for swimming and other water activities, never heard hand washing being an issue…

So please tell us how you use your AW around water

I only rinse my watch under water from time to time and have never swam it or showered with it on . I DO NOT know if it’s water!!!!

Look people you guys sure jump to conclusions. I don’t know how the hell it doesn’t work shortly after I get it.

My box took a week to get here! Please refrain from posting to my thread I have no more time for your conspiracy ideology

This certainly shouldn’t have caused a problem, but since water was causing the problem (“ every time it comes into any contact with water the screen becomes unresponsive and eventually goes blank”), I would definitely have mentioned it to Apple, and then they would definitely have tested it for water resistance. If you didn't mention it I don't know if they would test for it.

I don’t know if it’s water and I did mention it to the senior advisor , they still found no issue with the watch. I only ASSUMED it was water in this whole bizarre situation but I DO NOT know.

OK but you did write “every time it comes into any contact with water the screen becomes unresponsive and eventually goes blank”. Maybe it is worth emphasising this to Apple.

I did and thought that may be the cause but I may be wrong (could be coincidence) , this whole thing has been beyond baffling and frustrating is putting it lightly! I had a witness to my watch not working and it was a genius at the Apple Store, for he was the one to send it in for repair.

Since you opted out of Apple Care (I always do as well, so absolutely no judgement), just take the money you saved from not buying apple care and go buy a new watch. You can get a brand new SE for $250.

Since the genius in the store saw the problem I would do everything now through the store. Polite persistence usually pays off.

It’s more a principal than the money, the genius saw first hand that it didn’t work regardless what he tried. When he sent it out it should have been an automatic replacement as he said it would probably need replacement.

There is nothing they can do in store for the Apple Watch, their hands are tied and it MUST be sent out. It’s a different policy for their watches and EarPods .

Yes, but since they confirmed the fault and sent it off the first time, and it is still not fixed, I would still focus on them. What does the genius say about Apple not being able to repeat a fault he has confirmed?

I have kept in touch with a senior advisor to try and rectify this issue but it’s now been 3 weeks and beyond frustrating!
