son....I'm assuming you've seen the new iPhone? the antenna is outside the phone, there is no minor mod tweak to change that...all the hooplah about coating it and insulating it just are more band aids....and Apple won't do a recall, so again what about the iPhones that have already been sold? I seriously doubt Apple will be able to launch in new countries if they have to replace 3-4 million iphones in North America...even though my iPhone 4 works fine I can assure you that if Apple pops out a new version before next summer me and everyone I know will be at an Apple store DEMANDING a new "fixed" iPhone. Wouldn't you?
forgive me if my response seems terse
Yes... son...I have seen the new iPhone, I even owned one for 3 weeks before I returned it because of the antenna problem. I said "IF" a minor mod was available, if there isnt one there isnt one. And no I do not think Apple will recall the device, it goes against their nature.
I dont have any experience in the cell phone industry, but I do have experience in the Avionic/Electronics industry and in no way am I saying they are the same, but manufactures routinely make "mod" level changes to an LRU without rolling a part number. They do this to address a whole host of reasons that either fix or improve a design. They do this by making simple mods like adding a heat sink, tape, a spacer, etc. As long as they do not change the form, fit, or function they do not have to roll the part number. Again, I do not claim to know anything about the cell phone industry, but IF and I say IF there is a minor mod they can do to fix/improve the antenna problem then I find it incomprehensible that they will not roll in a mod at some point. If Apple is so dense as to have (again if and only if) a minor mod that address the issue and they dont incorporate the change then as a stock holder I need to sell my stock.
