After having waited this long for the iPhone 5, wouldn't it be clever to wait a little longer for the radically redesigned iPhone 6?
Rumors suggest it will have a quad core processor with an integrated GPU SoC module, NFC and an ultra slim design.

What do you guys think? Wait for the iPhone 6 or pull the trigger on the iP5?

That was a very bad joke.

Be crazy like me and buy the iPhone 5 and then immediately start saving money for the iPhone 6.

Buy the iPhone 5, sell it to someone, buy the iPhone 6.

Repeat every year.

Looks like this thread has reached its usual conclusion. Hopefully it is soon closed until the very same question is asked tomorrow.

i sell my phone every year on craigslist and use the money to buy the new one...eligible for upgrade every year

I'm going to assume the OP is serious....

First, how do you know the iPhone 6 will come out a little longer after the 5, which hasn't even been released yet? It's looking like a 15 month gap between the 4 and the 5. Who's to say it won't be 18 months for the 6?

Second, how does anyone know what the design of the 6 will be?

Should I eat today? I could save money and eat something nicer next week. What do you think?

It really depends on whether or not you'll be happy sticking with your current phone. If not, I'd say just bite the bullet and purchase the iPhone 5. In reality, unless you have plenty of money on hand, keeping up with ever improving technology simply isn't possible.

But waiting for the iPhone 6, or whatever it'll be called, wouldn't be a bad idea if you're willing to stick with whatever it is you have now.

The only reason I'll be skipping the iPhone 5 is because my iPhone 4 contract doesn't end until March 2013. By that time, the iPhone 7 might be right around the corner.

iPhone 6?

If you have a iphone4 now -> wait for iphone 6
If you don't have a iphone 4 -> buy iphone 5

Given 2-year contracts and the fact that many are OK with holding onto a phone for 2 years, this is a reasonable generalization.

The big thing I see potentially worth waiting for, rather than just shiny and new(er), is LTE. I would be surprised if the IP5 had LTE, but even more surprised if the IP6 didn't have it. Verizon's LTE network should be built out by 2013, and it is already available in a lot of major metro areas. On the other hand, with tiered plans and bandwidth bottlenecks, maybe it will be good to stick with good old 3G.

Personally, I am highly likely to get the iP5 and the IP6 and the ...

I maneuvered my family plan to make it where I get my upgrade once a year. Selling the phone on eBay and buying the next one actually gives me a net profit. So I'll always be upgrading iPhones.

I would certainly prefer even the original iPhone over a phone called "iPhone 6" any day, solely because of the name combined with model number. The number six (6) is "seks" in my language, so that "iPhone 6" will sound like "iPhone-sex", which is just silly and embarrassing.

I don't see one good reason to buy the iP5. My 4 is great, and now Apples creating an opportunity for us to save money. Especially since waiting is not an issue for me, I'm going to find waiting for iP6 very easy.

No one sees a reason to buy an iPhone 5, because it doesn't exist.

iPhone 7 is probably at Apple's design boards already, which means that the iPhone 5 will be outdated before it reaches the shelves, even.

Oh dear...this old subject again...

No, wait for iPhone 7, because that will be better than iPhone 6. Er, no, wait...hold on for iPhone 8 because that will be better than 7. Er, no, wait...

Would I buy an iPhone 4 now? Unless desperately short of cash, no, not this close to a new release. But, you have to commit at some point or you will never by happy. Get iPhone 5 and enjoy it for a couple of years. Let the annual-Apple-Lemmings have their fun.
