Except for the Apple Magic Mouse I'm using right now, which allows 1, 2, or 3 finger taps. Finger swipes, pinching, all variety of different motions, which effectively gives it as many buttons as you can think to configure.

Show me the Logitech that does that?

TipTap allows you to place (Tip) your middle finger in the middle of the mouse, and with it still on the mouse you tap either your index or ring finger. You dont have to click to mouse at all for this one to work.

I think what the General is trying to say is it is limited to one "physical" button which is true. BTT makes the Magic Mouse amazingly versatile, but it is still limited to one physical button. Some people might find that limiting, I personally do not.
 
Well I was pretty excited about this thread when I tried BTT with MM and iMac, but I went completely ecstatic when I tried it with the track pad on my 09 MBP.

I no longer need the MM I purchased to use with the MBP.

obviously not a gamer.

Try aiming down a scope and shooting at the same time in any FPS with a magic mouse!

You have me very excited about downloading
and using this little tool.

The problem is, at the moment, you cannot
download it. The download link just hangs.

Will try it again later.

Listen....

You guys can help with this. Not sure if this
tool is all set up and ready to go once installed
or if I need to go into the CONFIG menu and do
my own setup.

If I need to do my own setup -- and I mean
just for the basic enhancements -- is there
an ESSENTIAL GUIDE one of you can post? I
see all sorts of screenshots throughout these
several pages but I just need help getting
through the initial setup that will be basic
enough for me to say "WOW, THIS IS GREAT!"

Hopefully the download link will become
workable over the next few hours.

im afraid there is no pre-configured settings that come with this app, you must start from scratch. 🙁 if you read back on page 1/2 (IIRC) i posted my buttons and swipes. its highly usable for me, but each user changes of course. it would be great if the programmer would add an option to export/import configs!

That was my point, Im not a gamer on my iMac, so needing to have more than one physical button is not a requirement for me. But it may be for some.

Either way, BTT makes the Magic Mouse more usable. Maybe not for you or other logitech users, but then maybe you guys dont really need to be in a Magic Mouse thread? 😎 Just kidding of course, everyone is welcome in here!

The screen shots tell it all NJ, it really is very simple. On the left of the screen you will see your application name, or global if you want the gesture to be usable on the whole system. Click global on the left then click add new gesture on the lower right. Then from there just select the gesture you want to use and then the action you want the gesture to perform. Once you download it, you will see how easy the initial setup is. Let us know if you need any help.

I'm having hard time giving up Mighty Mouse for Magic as I like expose via squeeze on mighty and dashboard with the middle click.

I've downloaded BTT, but I can't find any configuration I like that doesn't give me mis-hits.

What do you guys recommend I program for expose or dashboard? Most things I program somehow inadvertently get activated when I don't want it to, whicH is why I suspect Apple didn't ship the mouse with such abilities.

It's a simple solution for me. In OS X I use the Magic Mouse with BTT but in Boot Camp Windows 7 I use my MX Revolution. It's the best of both worlds. 😉
 
Thanks for this info.

Finally downloaded this -- the latest
alpha as described above.

I used the IMPORT button to import
RafaelSenzi12 preset.

Restarted BTT, saw that the import
did add some applications in the
first column but nothing as far as
gestures as far as I can see.

Did he actually put gestures in here?

Anyhow, I am finally figuring this out.
Essentially all you need to concentrate
on is the two dropdown boxes: MAGIC
MOUSE GESTURE and PREDEFINED ACTION.
 
Set my Mouse speed very high but every
time I restart BTT it defaults it back to a
lower setting?

Something I am missing?
 
I have the "Launch BetterTouchTool everytime you start your mac" option selected and I've chosen to not have the icon show up in my menu bar. So whenever my mac boots up, the BTT control panel opens up. Is there a way to have it start up in the background without me having to close the control panel?

That's strange. I have mine set to autostart and not show the icon in the menu bar as well but Control Panel doesn't automatically open on restart. Was Control Panel open when you shut down?

I haven't actually tried this new beta version yet. I'm happy with my own gestures. I haven't read too many complaints about it though.
 
I think the feature I like the most about BetterTouchTool is simply being able to adjust the mouse speed a lot higher than what Apple preferences allows. I set it to max at 13.98 and that's way better since I'm used to using a high DPI Logitech mouse.

Anyone else dislike those angled feet Apple put on the bottom of the Magic Mouse? I have a new Steelseries icemat and it was annoying to even try to use it with the way it scratches across the mousepad. I just fixed that problem though by cutting two long teflon tape strips for mice feet and applied them over those angled skates on the magic mouse. Now it slides great 😀

It was closed. But I downloaded the installer and reinstalled and now it works. Not too sure... But before I tested it half a dozen times. Thanks!

Thats not a bad idea with the tape. Mine seems a little sticky also, I was thinking about cleaning it with Rubbing Alcohol but the tape seems like a better idea.

Teflon tape is just like those mouse skates they include with some mice and mousepads which helps the mouse to glide more smoothly. The way Apple has those feet put on the Magic Mouse and the fact that they're hard plastic instead of rubber makes it feel like you're just scraping the mouse across the mousepad.
 
Anyone else notice that sometimes you have to download and install the same update like 3 times in a row before it takes? This last update took me 3 tries and finally kicked into gear.

The dev has added a ton of fricken gestures though! Single finger taps on the touchpad all over the place can do new things. I like the single finger tap upper right corner for spaces kinda like the hot corners on the desktop. Although I sometimes accidentally activate spaces now when trying to type. I must glance over the corner without knowing it.

Either way, this utility is still one of the best downloads I have made for both of my Macs. Love it.

yup took me two times to get it to work.. it said something about being unsigned or whatever.
 
I installed a new update this morning. It changed my "set mousespeed" setting back to the default setting. And actually, each time I close the preference pane it changes it back to the default speed. What the hell?

Another question - it seems like I set some type of option for scroll speed (browsing down a long page). Am I just dreaming that, because I don't see the option now? Or do I just go through the regular pref. pane in system pref.

Another thing I noticed was it appears in my dock even though (show dock icon while running) is unchecked. This is aggravating.
