On the wrong arm too for the crown orientation. Bet its not even charged.

She will wear that 5 minutes. In fact she's probably not wearing it now or ever again.

I get the free advertising thing blah blah blah... But this is so un-Apple.

Apple is about bringing excellence to the masses.

All this freebies to celebs just shows classist contempt for their customers. And if they were doing it just for the advertising, why give out solid gold models that aren't for sale?

Rant over.

(Yes I'm jealous.)

Beats has always been known for putting their headphones on as many celebrities as possible. Looks like Apple has adopted that approach big-time with the watch.

I kinda agree with this. Samsung pulls out the celebrities and we bash all over them. Apple does it? Oh man, Beyonce looks so cool in that picture and I can't wait to hear about Christy Turlington Burns' newest adventure jogging in South Africa!!

Seriously, this whole launch has been decidedly un-Apple and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What? She looks like a peacock just sat on her face.

I hope you're not actually ignorant to the point of actually thinking it looks like a real bird is sitting on her. Please tell me that was just your attempt at hyperbole.

Still looks cheap IMO. If I didn't know it was an Apple Watch I'd think it was some gold plated expandable bracelet.

Apple is trying to market the Watch as a fashion item and not just tech (hence the costs reflect the watch fashion market). And so, they need to get into the fashion market for it. This is just one of the ways they hope to do that.

Considering Beyonce's self-titled album shattered iTunes Store records with 828,773 albums sold in just three days, i'm not surprised she would have the all gold edition.

Yeah, it's so fashionable you can't buy one, only comped to the rich and famous.

She did get iTunes in the news a while back by selling her album there first
I remember reading it was huge

Btw what size is that ?

Anna Wintour has a gold watch too, though her's is with white Sport band. It seemed obvious to me from the get-go that the Edition watch was expressly for this purpose. Marketing. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy Iovine pushed for this. Beats has been very successful with celebrity marketing.

No people laugh at Samsung because 9/10 we find out the celebrities pimping their products actually use iPhones. :D

Also aside from Christy Burns none of this is really official Apple marketing. Heck Anna Wintour was wearing an Apple Watch on April 16 and the first I heard about it was this morning. Most of the celebrity Watch sightings have come from Instagram or Twitter. This isn't in your face marketing from Apple.

Nah, the fact there's now two in the wild means that Apple will eventually offer this band to everyone. The reason they haven't yet is likely because it takes 9 hours to make each band, and Apple's manufacturing plant has likely been running overtime, just to provide the stainless and black bands in volume. The metal link was the third most popular band after the Milanese loop and sport band.

We'll see this and a gold Milanese available by Christmas, along with other case materials as rumored. We'll likely see a Platinum Edition, as well as a $1-2K gold watch for the mid-tier model, maybe 14K or Vermeil. I'm also betting on an anodized gold Sport watch to match all those gold iPhones.

Good point. She's earned it.

Probably made Apple enough money to pay for a plane-load of gold editions.

...and now she will be 'selling' them to her most rabid fans farther adding to Apple's bottom line. That is some of the least expensive advertising with the highest return that can be done.
