For anyone wondering...

And for all the haters wishing failure on someone "what's wrong with you people?"...

It's not even close. In fact, the exact opposite. She set a new record. The album is the only ever to go #1 simultaneously in over 100 countries. She did this with no advertising and marketing whatsoever. She honestly is a deity at this point, and the good news is she is still pumping out quality work, after listening to and watching the videos all morning, I wouldn't even say this is her best work yet. A pinnacle possibly. It's amazing.

Big Beyonce fan, but i'm not THAT impressed with this album.

I give her props for the creative effort that went into making the music AND videos, though.

Not a huge Beyonce fan but I have to say that this album is very well made. The overall production level is truely professional.

She sold 430k copies on Friday alone (in only the US), and she's expected to sell over 600k in her first week of sales (which is only 3 days since she released on a Friday). That's drastically more than any other female pop artist this year.

Looks like this type of release paid off :D haters stay pressed.

is this "Mac" blog worthy?
I mean even if you can tolerate her hysterics which pass as a vocal style, it's an itunes album for chrissakes. Not a Mac peripheral or application.
Just another drop in the ocean of itunes. Who cares?

The real gems of music ARE found in the popular music, that's why it's popular. It's why the iPhone is popular too. No one is forcing us to buy this stuff. It's popular for a reason, and marketing is not the main reason (otherwise you could push the same argument about the iPhone).

Clearly something about this "popular" music (which you feel you must put in quotations) resonates with mass consciousness in America at this time; and those so-called gems you're talking about, clearly only resonate with a specific niche of people. If they deserved to be listened by the whole world and gain global attention, they would.

Music becomes popular for a reason, and the people who buy it are not clueless sheep who are just buying music that's marketed towards them, just like we are not clueless iSheep who are buying iPhones simply because of marketing.
just as an example, not a current one mind you, but there once was a band called Duran Duran. Massively popular.
Except they were just a pale copy of another more talented band named "Japan". Who never achieved much in the way of worldwide popularity, but wrote better songs, with better musicianship, and were just plain BETTER.

To be more current. Anyone who has listened to hip hop for a while knows that the mainstream hip hop may have better production values. But the rhymers that can really flow never achieve mass commercial success. That is reserved for the guys who just talk about money, Bentley's Crystal and "it dont stop until six in the morning". You know, simple stuff for the masses.
Which is what Beyonce amounts to.

People actually buy and listen to this crap?? I wish all the diva's and gangsta rap crap would go away.

:apple:

You clearly didn't listen to the album if you think that's what it's about

Oh please, people like you are such a sad demographic. Open your mind and ears. Critics agree it's a fantastic and innovative album experience; it has an 85 on Metacritic.

the big deal is that she released a new album no one even knew about nor that she was even working on one which is pretty damn impressive with twitter and the digital age these days.

I just created a new website called BeyonceRumors.com

It will daily proclaim rumors of all her future projects, real or imagined, and will grossly leak any secret projects and albums she is trying to hide from the public. But it won't be dominated by Beyonce's fans. The forums will be dominated by her haters, mostly fans of Taylor Swift.

Taylor has more talent in her pinkie finger than she ever will.

Neither fool, I just wish the diva's and gangsta crap would go away, it is helping to ruin our great country. Why do you bring race into this?

:apple:

Well you're at least ignorant. Everyone and their mother knows Beyoncé is one of the greatest performers of this generation with powerful live vocals and great dancing skills, even after having a baby. Taylor Swift can hardly hold a note, can't dance to save her life, and fills her albums with generic love stories.

And how exactly is "the diva's and gangsta crap" ruining our country? You're sure it isn't our economy or lack of social development?

Good for her I guess but that whole empire (her and Jay-z) is full of ego and narcissism.

I'm going to get flak for this (probably mainly because it's Beyoncé and it's hard to find anyone that hates her) but I'm on the side of "this is stupid."

I have nothing against her, or her music, but dominating the big advertising spots is stupid. There are other albums coming out that could really benefit from those spots (such as Childish Gambino's new album that released a few days ago) whereas Beyoncé is so well established to the point that all you need to say is "Beyoncé has a new album available now" and the rest will take care of itself.

It would make sense to have her take up one of those spots as with all major releases, but to steal away ALL of the largest advertising spaces is nothing but bad business for the rest of everyone.

Remember when Beyonce paid a hospital some million odd dollars to have the entire FLOOR to herself when she gave birth?

If her taking up ad space annoys you, her birth should really grind your gears.

Too many African-Americans on iTunes featured page. It's like Apple has some hidden agenda trying to push rap and R&B music to American youth.

They need to feature an occasional Amish rap star, or some Filipino karaoke celebrity, or maybe a Korean Elvis impersonator crooner-type. iTunes Store needs more variety. :p

There's no agenda dude, the general public just has gutter trash taste in music, doesnt matter who's playing the music.

Taylor has no talent? And what have you released, fool? Where are your Grammy awards? She is talented for her target demographic, and it's way better than listening to most rap artists who have vulgar music.

I like Beyonce and this album is great - the videos are great too - it is not for children as it is too adult - but I liked the fact it was different to what she has done before. Grown Woman is on there are a video.

All the videos are great quality, I played them fine on my 65 inch Samsung TV and was impressed.

I am also a huge PRINCE fan and hope one day he may follow suit, but doubt it, knowing his track record of "anti social media" etc.

I do not like her music, my opinion. She, nor the little tramp rihanna will never hold a candle to Janet Jackson, the singer they all wish to be. As for one of the greatest performers of this generation, the competition is slim, there are very few great performers anymore.

And yes, the rap crap is helping to ruin our country, just listen to the lyrics and look at who is listening to it.

Why compare Taylor to me when I'm not an artist

Taylor has 7 Grammy's; Beyoncé has 17. Beyoncé is also the most Grammy nominated female artist of all time :D

"She is talented for her target demographic" doesn't even make sense. It doesn't matter who your demographic is. If you can't sing, you can't sing, and she can't. Don't know why you think she's more talented than Beyoncé

When did I mention Rihanna? She's an awful performer. Beyoncé isn't.

I mean, the absolute vocal slayage. Her tour videos are even better, which, by the way, is on track to grossing over $200 million :D

So be a prude as much as you like, her new album sold 617,000 copies in the US and 829,000 copies worldwide in only 3 days while being an iTunes exclusive album. It's sitting comfortably with an 84 on Metacritic, what they call "universal acclaim". Your opinion won't negate from the money and Grammy's it'll be earning :p

Seems my post may have been removed for some odd reason.

I posted I lost all respect for her when she faked being pregnant. If you use a surrogate be proud of that, don't hide it with fake collapsing baby bumps and top secret hospital stays.

My feeling summed up in 6 simple letters.

Of course she's going to take all of the advertising spaces. She's B.E.Y.O.N.CE. All you haters need to sit down.
And? I guess she's popular with the metrosexuals and tweens but I think the best thing she ever did was fall down the stares at one of her concerts which was caught on video.... Now that was actually something she did that was awesome!

Just shows her team are scared her album will bomb, it gets more and more likely as she is gets older. For anyone under 25 she's just not cool and mumsy.
Sorry beyonce fans this doesn't say premium but smacks of desperation.
and visual album... sorry isn't that a music video? Kinda like saying you realeased a visual book.
Indeed.... video album = MTV

You do understand how the music industry works, right? The "popular" music is well known because somebody (the big greedy labels) paid to make it well-known. That isn't to say all well-known music achieves success in the same fashion, but nearly everything you're "told" to listen to by the hit radio stations... that's how it works. That's how the world works, actually. All about the money. Sad state of affairs, huh?

So Lorde, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga... they were all just plucked out of the masses and made famous because somebody paid radio stations to play their music? Read up on their history and see how they actually became "hits".

LOL I don't know what to say here.:eek::rolleyes:

So by your logic, people buy McDonalds, Pepsi and Cola because they're healthy foods?

A bit different than music, since food affects the body a bit more directly, but yes, people like sugar in their water.

You can't market someone to buy a book by calling it "the next Harry Potter" and you can't market an artist and make everyone buy their music just by telling them they're great.

Clearly people like something about the popular music, the popular movies, the popular books. I understand that there will always be that other group of people that will try to devalue it by calling Avatar crap and Justin Bieber crap and Twilight crap. No one was "duped" or "tricked" by marketing to buy that stuff, clearly it resonates with a lot of people. Why it resonates with other people could be an interesting question to explore, but the fact that it resonates with people and people buy what they like is undisputable.
