Can anyone confirm the video resolution of the music videos? Wondering if it's going to play like a VHS tape on my AppleTV.

so, not a Beyoncé fan here. and would not have purchased the album but find the in-your-face push very annoying.

Now, that said...I give great Kudos to her Marketing Team/Agent for pulling this off. this is the push that gets people to at least listen if not DL the songs/albums.
I've used the carousel in the past to get some insight into artists/releases and gave a listen, purchased, created iTunes Radio Stations.

So, again Kudos on her part for forcing herself onto the iTunes customer. I don't care for her music and won't buy it anyway, BUT if I did somewhat like her music, I feel I'd wait until this is all over before making a purchase. Otherwise we will soon find other artists HOGGING the iTunes spotlight.

The album is a load of rubbish anyway. Uninspired ramblings, which are quite vulgar at times, and I liked 4!

I'm sure it will do well though.

Then again, of course the "popular" music is always what's on the front page. The real gems are the music that are not.. that.

The real gems of music ARE found in the popular music, that's why it's popular. It's why the iPhone is popular too. No one is forcing us to buy this stuff. It's popular for a reason, and marketing is not the main reason (otherwise you could push the same argument about the iPhone).

Clearly something about this "popular" music (which you feel you must put in quotations) resonates with mass consciousness in America at this time; and those so-called gems you're talking about, clearly only resonate with a specific niche of people. If they deserved to be listened by the whole world and gain global attention, they would.

Music becomes popular for a reason, and the people who buy it are not clueless sheep who are just buying music that's marketed towards them, just like we are not clueless iSheep who are buying iPhones simply because of marketing.

I have nothing against her, or her music, but dominating the big advertising spots is brilliant.

I've corrected your post.

...whereas Beyoncé is so well established to the point that all you need to say is "Beyoncé has a new album available now" and the rest will take care of itself.

You could say the same thing about Apple or Coca-Cola, but both companies actively advertise their products to keep it active in the minds of people.

There are other albums coming out that could really benefit from those spots

When they're as big as Beyonce, then they will be able to buy those spots. Cheers.

estimated 80.000 copies sold in less than 24 hours! guess it worked.

not gonna lie, its refreshing to have an album simply come out without all this countdown and preview clip bs on social media. feels like 2003 again

CNBC reported the album had no promo cost, except Apple's take. The concept of an album with all songs and videos as a bundle is an Apple exclusive. I expect other artists to follow suit.

Beonce is promoting it on social media, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, with followers over 50m.

Rocketman

I'm interested in seeing the sales of this album being exclusively released via iTunes vs. her husband's album, which was exclusively released through samsung.

Regardless, this is a great album

I never expected to see anything Beyonce related on MR! And the stan wars! Wow.

It has been forecasted to sell around 200,000 in three days and debut at #1 on the billboard chart next week. Apparently it sold 80,000 copies I'm the first 3 hours.

Honestly this was a very good surprise. No hype just music.

Dropping your entire album + music videos in one go is not very smart.

Yeah, look at how Netflix bombed when they released the entire "House of Cards" series at once and won those Emmy Awards. And then there was "Orange is the New Black." What a disappointment.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to release their entire video collection at once. It's proven to be such a flop for TV, so I'm sure it will fail with music too.

The videos appear to be SD, which is quite frustrating. This appears to be typical handing for music videos in the iTunes store though, so I can't blame Beyonce. But I do wish they were in HD. They look okay on my Apple TV, but I can definitely tell there is some compression. Bummer.

Music videos are completely different to TV shows. Plus, this album is too late for the Grammys, American Music Awards, and too early for the VMAs.

You do know that some music does not get discovered or heard by "the whole world" and gain "global attention" because of money/marketing, right? I realize the internet has changed that a bit, but not completely. So no, you can't really say that because something is popular or on top of the charts (are there still charts?), that it's instantly good. I would like to use Macklemore, Justin Bieber, and Imagine Dragons as examples. Even from years past, I could use Creed or something as an example.

Usually certain bands/artists reach the top due to accessibility and because of how catchy it might be. That same person who may enjoy that popular music may not be the same person who researches new music through blogs or going to shows weekly to check out new acts.

There are other albums coming out that could really benefit from those spots (such as Childish Gambino's new album that released a few days ago) whereas Beyoncé is so well established to the point that all you need to say is "Beyoncé has a new album available now" and the rest will take care of itself.

It would make sense to have her take up one of those spots as with all major releases, but to steal away ALL of the largest advertising spaces is nothing but bad business for the rest of everyone.

Because every album from every artist should get equal promotion. Riiiight...

Me too, this is too much like payola on Apple's part.

"Payola" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Damn .. I search through the demo of the album and found myself not liking any of the track. Not even one. Well maybe "Mine" and "Heaven" tingles me for a moment but nothing really sticks. Sounds like most of them are filler tracks .. Doh.

Well come to think of it, you get lots and lots of content for $15.99 .. Maybe that's why .. You get what you paid for :D

LOL I don't know what to say here.:eek::rolleyes:

So by your logic, people buy McDonalds, Pepsi and Cola because they're healthy foods?

You do understand how the music industry works, right? The "popular" music is well known because somebody (the big greedy labels) paid to make it well-known. That isn't to say all well-known music achieves success in the same fashion, but nearly everything you're "told" to listen to by the hit radio stations... that's how it works. That's how the world works, actually. All about the money. Sad state of affairs, huh?

Jay-Z must have negotiated this deal.

Hahaha! I get it! Because women can't accomplish things! And even when a woman is successful beyond measure, totally on her own terms, you have to bring it down and assume a man must be responsible! Hahaha!

(The fact that this post got even the one like is sickening. The MR community is showing its age more and more lately.)

Her role model husband shot his brother.

it's B.I.G.Y.O.N.C.E, fall to your knees. over rated, over produced, big, loud and obnoxious. can't decide if she wants to be a plus model, a lady of the night or a singer. no news here.

Typical fanboy terminology, over-used on MR. If you show but the slightest doubt or even the beginning of something that could be mistaken for criticism you are a 'hater'. Mostly used when it concerns Apple or Apple products. So now I'm a 'hater'. ;) ;) ;)

Yebo, that's precisely right. Anything other than trembling in awe and fear at the magnificence of King B is hatred of all that is good and true in the world.

Calm down. It was meant as sarcasm at Jay-Z since he seems to be everywhere. It does have a smidgen of relevance since they are related.
