after updating edge and to Mac OS beta 11, I cannot use edge to log into this website.... I get a page cannot be loaded. every other browser works and lets me sign in with out any issues at all

Ok, so the update to B S Beta 11.0.1 has made it to this side of the Pacific.

If you want to get the whole installer file, download the macadmin-scripts from here
Download the zip file from under the Code button, extract somewhere you have at the space, and run --
sudo ./installinstallmacos.py --seedprogram DeveloperSeed
You will need 25 to 30 Gbytes of space to download the components then assemble them into the Installer App.

The mail app on BS fixes a problem I have on Catalina. When running a VPN on Catalina, some of my email coming from a "mailing list" does not download and show the text/graphics. Shut off the VPN and everything shows up.

On Big Sur beta, even when running the VPN, everything downloads and shows. :)👍

When update from the previous beta of 11.0 to 11.0.1 (20B5012d), the update seemed to go OK, but on restart, my MBPro 13" 2020 went into an endless restart loop, and kept rebooting without installing the update. I had to go to Recovery and reinstall BigSur, which it did, successfully, to 11.0.1. No idea what happened, and aside from having to spend the extra time and trouble going into Recovery, no harm, no foul.

Querious 3.0.7 not working under MacOS 11.0.1. Before that working normally. Seems to be an bug in 3.0.7. Version 3.0.8 is working fine!

Has anyone been able to test if Aperture works on Big Sur (with help from Retroactive)? According to their website notes it should work as normal.

For those of you who want some small distraction from what else is happening in this world, Big Sur 11.0.1 Beta 2 build 20B5022a is now out.
Either do a download and update via Software Update, or see my note #852 (above) to download the whole installer file.
Otherwise there are some you-beaut kitten videos on youtube.

I have installed the BS11.0.1ß2 as a small update, rather than a full install.
Going back through my previous notes I see now that --
  1. I still need to dequarantine LyX otherwise it verifies it each time before running.
  2. BalenaEtcher now works.
  3. Brew works, but complains (I was able to install wget via Brew)
  4. LibreOffice still doesn't properly anti-alias fonts, while exactly the same version does on Catalina
  5. As mentioned above, the new wallpapers are pretty grouse

any antivirus working in Beta?

Sophos home, Cylance and AVG didn't work for me. If you disable system integrity protection then Sophos did start working until this was re-enabled. I've just backed off this testing until the GA has been released.

It’s possible the latest ClamXAV build may work?

I am also a registered owner of ClamXAV, and according to this:

V3.1 is supposed to be compatible with Big Sur. Anyone had a chance to test it?

Also, I am waiting for the following apps to be compatible with Big Sur:

Onyx
Thunderbird
LibreOffice
SuperDuper!
TechToolPro

Based on prior history, Onyx and SuperDuper! are usually compatible after the first or second "major" update of a mac OS arrives. So, I would expect that to be with OS V11.1.0 or V11.2.0. Not sure about Thunderbird and LibreOffice but suspect it could be around the same time. But Tech Tool Pro is always last, and I am thinking January, at the earliest.

I will most likely start my testing when V11.2.0 becomes available.

The mail app works much better than the one in Catalina. Less memory hogging, and it will download graphics/text while the VPN is active, something that was a 50/50 shot on Catalina.
