I have what I consider to be one of the "last of the good ones", a 2015 MacBook Pro 15" with a 512GB SSD from factory.

I have a Samsung 960 Evo 2TB, but not sure if it fits... What would be the biggest storage, fastest speed and (preferrably Samsung) overall best upgrade for the 2015 MBPro? In this instance, cost is not an issue, only storage and performance.

Thanks!

Actually, nevermind... I didn't realize you can't use the Samsung 960 Evo or 970 Pro's. It's just some special Apple SSD, right? I don't want issues with the machine just to gain an extra 500GB of storage.

You can use your 960 ssd. You just need an adapter like this and have High Sierra installed on your current drive, and you are ready for the switch.

What exact spec 2015 15" do you have?

What CPU?
Dual GPU or iGPU only?

I had a 970 Evo 2TB in my 2.8 dual GPU 2015 15" and the little increase in power/heat was causing untenable amounts of extra fan spin up for me, but when I put that same SSD into a new 2.2 iGPU only 2015 15" - all was wonderful and quiet.

For 2.8 Dual GPU users looking for 2TB, I'd advise waiting for the hopefully soon to be released SX8200 Pro 2TB

If 1TB is enough, the SX8200 Pro 1TB is reported to be VERY fast and cooler (thus quieter) than the EVO's...

Great pricing too - like $220 on Amazon US
